Dianhong is my all time favorite tea (except for some Gyokuros). Just like you, it was the tea that started my tea journey, and for that I could not be more greatful.
Just now I'm drinking Dian Hong "gushu" from Mengku aera. It has a lot of fruit and honey notes and a little bit of citrus peel bitterness. Last month I was in sauna for the first time and since then, when I smell the wet leaves in the teapot, it always remembers me the Finnish sauna with steam impact. The resin and honeycomb from all the wood around + heat and the aromatic oils like red orange and grapefruit. They also use cedar or other woods or herbal oils during ceremonials. Mint as well, or incense... You just feel like you would would be the tea itself 😆 Strong experiences and memories. Often it feels like Dian Hong or Longan Lapsang, or dome more oxidised and roasted fenghuang dancongs. It is just mindblowing.
I've had Golden Monkey black tea which looks similar to this (also from Yunan) and it was probably the greatest black tea I've ever had. No need for any milk or sugar it was that good. I do miss it. EDIT: Wait nvm this is the same tea haha
I was thrilled when I got my pouches from across the pond. I'm going to do a side by side comparison with Golden Bud and Wildwood Black- I opened my last pouch just a few months ago- I'm going to miss it if you can't source more. : (
Well would you look at that, I was just noticing that my Dian Hong stache from another provider was dwindling... Might have to give this one a try with my next order!
Ooof dearly I wish for this tea, dearly I want to drink it, alas and alac, it is between paycheques and the exchange to GBP is atrocious for my Canadian Wallet! 😅😢
I can not feel the taste of my favourite tea anymore. What is this? I have never met this. I brew gyokuro with the same temperature water and steep it the same time always, using the high tea to water ratio, but now gyokuro tastes for me like a boiled water... Could anybody suggest me something?
My wallet is begging me to unsubscribe to this channel 😂 *immediately orders tea*
Same! 😩😂
i feel you
Another witness 😆
I absolutely adore Cocoa Malt Queen and I have Bailu Gold coming. I guess I need some Wildwood Gold now as well. That is a gorgeous liquor.
I loved Golden Bud, I might have to buy this one, because I had the same Dianhong experience, it is such a revelation of a tea.
I pushed this to 8 infusions, and it got better each time: sweeter and more floral, more chocolatey and rich. Beautiful.

that little crab on that chapan looks like chilling on the beach close to the water😊

Wildwood Gold gets me quite drunk! When a black tea gets me tea drunk, I think it's no coincidence that it's 300 year old trees, I guess...
Yes my favorite everyday tea! I do get the snail or rolled tip and leaf.
These videos leave me feeling hungry! 😋
Come on now, Don. My tea order is literally arriving today! Why must you do this?!
Hey Don when might taster packets become available?

I totally agree! Best tea out there. ❤

Hey. Mei leaf ... Just Saw where you are going to be in United States ...... Great. Happy Tea Drinkers
Im new one here so pardon my ignorance, but were you pouring gaiwan steep into a water? Why so? Too intense without diluting it first?
that first steep was not a real steep, it was just to rinse the leaves and get them wet, it was not for drinking.

Golden bud is amazing. It was also one of my first "wow" moments in the world of tea.
Funnily enough my specialty-tea journey also started with a good quality Dianhong ^^
