  • "Behold the Great Creator Makes Himself a House of Clay" was written by Thomas Pestel, one of the chaplains to King Charles I, and was published in 1659.
    The tune is 'This Endris Night', a 15th century English carol tune ('endris' probably means 'other). One version of the original words runs: "Thys endris nyghth, I saw a sygth, A stare as bryght as day; And ever among a mayden song, Lullay, by by, lullay."
    It is performed here by the Cardiff Festival Choir.
