this song is dark! it's describing the poor life of a young man in an Arabic country. Everyone's against him! His only friend is Abu! The monkey. But honestly I love how dark it is the reason why though is beacaus it gives children a sense of reality. Props to Disney for not shoving just fairy tail shit in the kid's heads.

You know, I'm several years late to the party with this, but every time I listen to this I think the same thing. Genderswapping the singer isn't the only thing that changes with the best of Annapantsu's male song covers. I'm not gonna lie, some of the songs don't really fit her voice and I'm not the biggest fan of them (stay with me, there's a point here). Really, this song shouldn't work with her voice, but the character she adds to her version of Aladdin really brings this to life and makes me want to see this character's story. Specifically, there seems to be a nervousness, vulnerability, and weakness to her voice. In particular, listen to the tone in her voice and how she speeds up the syllables, especially near the end and especially compared to how the original sounds. But the thing is, Annapantsu has a huge voice. That's why the Hunchback stuff is some of her best. But in this case, you also have to take the character of Aladdin into account. The original Aladdin was quick witted and fleet of foot, but honestly not much of a trickster. But even though there's a weakness in the way she gets the syllables out, Annapantsu's voice is so naturally strong, it kind of feels like it's being put on. This female version of Aladdin seems like a distinctly different character from the original, because in what I hear as faking weakness, she comes off as more of a trickster. Guards underestimate her for being a pretty little girl street rat, and she totally uses that to her advantage. "Oh, how will a helpless little girl like me ever get away from you big strong guards?" A blink later and they realize she was two rooftops away halfway through the sentence. While the original Aladdin could get by almost entirely on his athleticism alone, this version seems more crafty and resourceful. Not so much a brains over brawn type thing as this would still be a chase scene just from the nature of the lyrics, but more like she's using her gender to her advantage rather than letting it be a hindrance from getting metaphorical doors slammed in her face. Like, the scene where Aladdin tricks Genie into giving him a free wish is the kind of thing this Aladdin does to basically everyone but her version of Abu and her lesson is less "be yourself" and more about not constantly tricking and taking advantage of people. Learning that the people who care about you won't just see you as that helpless pretty girl, but as someone with talent that extends beyond her appearance. For example, this version of Aladdin might get her Jasmine (genderswapped or otherwise) to steal for her and try to use her getting caught as a distraction. But they bond when instead of getting caught, Jasmine gets away as effortlessly as she does. I don't know, the fake-sounding weakness always sticks out to me whenever I stumble across this song and I've always liked hyper-competent protagonists.

I always wonder how people record themselves singing continuously without noise complaints from neighbours? I can literally hear my neighbours sneeze. Can't imagine if they started belting songs. How do you overcome that? It's literally the only thing holding me back from singing or starting a channel myself. I love singing, it makes me happy =D But I'm an introvert with social anxiety. So I have trouble carrying a five minute conversation let alone sing. I don't think I can ever handle a confrontation with my neighbours. Any advice would be appreciated =D

Some have recording studios. Maybe you could do it in a basement or a friend's basement. Closets full of clothes work too.
