      Tbh, if you do 2 levels of paladin and maybe like 5 levels of monk, it ain't that bad (though it's not great still). Specific features and lineages could be used to mitigate the bad. Just thinking about it now, I'd probably do the following and still "feel good":
      Lineage: Lizardfolk (Monsters of the Multiverse)
      Class: Monk (1), Paladin (2-3) = Level 3
      Str: 13, Dex: 15+1, Con: 11+1, Int: 8, Wiz: 13+1, Cha: 13 (Point buy - think I did the math right)
      Why Lizardfolk? Well first, your AC is bad if you don't grab natural armor. Martial arts as a monk requires no armor. Base AC after Dex with the Lizard is 13+Dex (16). Additionally, your unarmed strikes become a d6 because of Bite (which will give you an "edge" in the early game). I know Tortle exists but if you keep ASI'ing Dex you'll have a higher base AC before any Tortle features.
      Why go more Monk than Paladin? Stunning strike and ki points. Tbh, I'd save those 2 smites from Paladin 2 on crits and just never use spells unless I know we aren't doing combat that session. Also, some fun synergy can happen depending on your subclass (i.e., Ascendant Dragon lets you change the damage type of all your bite attacks, Drunken Master gives you a hit and run option with Drunken Technique).
      If your DM allows, you could even grab Tasha's Dedicated Weapon at Monk 2 and use a longsword--or some other versatile weapon--to do a d10 damage for your monk weapon. Paladin 2 also gives you a fighting style, grabbing Great Weapon Fighting could be nice (or Dueling if you just want single-handed attacks and not using versatile). Paladin gives you proficiency in martial weapons, might as well make them monk weapons with this feature.
      I think my only question would be: when is it worth to grab those two levels of paladin? Or is it worth just doing 1 or 2 levels of Monk and the move being the rest of paladin? Like this doesn't seem worth it in the longterm if we did the math and calculated damage per turn.

    It would require working with a dm but I love the idea of an armorer artificer that takes woodcarving toll proficiency and makes a suit of enchanted wooden armor so that they can multiclass with druid without issue. To be fair, if a dm lets you do this they’d probably also let you ignore the druid’s no metal rule that a lot of dm’s seem to ignore, but either way carving a magical suit of wooden armor is incredible flavor for an artificer druid.

    According to Sage Advice, Druids can wear metal armor, they just choose not to due to philosophy reasons. It also says talk with your DM to see if your druid wearing armor would be a break in their world creation. That being said, a moon druid bear wearing plate armor would be doable as well as awesome, since Armorer says that the armor expands to cover your entire body

    • @bukharagunboat8466

      The Druid's lack of metal armor is the only place in the whole game that a character option confers a specific disadvantage. Interestingly One DnD reduces Druids back to Light Armor (like they were back in Eldritch Wizardry), and the no metal thing never gets mentioned. The best understanding of the current multiclass rule in my view is that Druids have Proficiency in Medium Armor but restricted to non-metal types. Multiclassed Druids then cannot wear metal armor using their Druid-derived Medium Armor proficiency, but can if they have Medium or Heavy armor proficiency from another class.

    Tortle or loxodon are basically a necessity to make this function really well letting you dump dexterity and focus full on into intelligence, wisdom, and constitution. With a tortle using a shield with enhanced defense you get a 20 AC on a druid, and artificer gives you access to the most used defensive spell in the game the shield spell giving you another 5 AC. This will make you very hard to hit compared to other druids.

    Thematically combining druid and artificer, may require some work, but you will be rewarded with great fun if you go through with it.
    e.g. Alchemist + Wild Fire arsonist: "Fire and renewal are all part of natures cycle. Some times that cycle just takes too long to turn and that is where I come in."
    Mechanically, there is the MAD challenge, but there are also some great synergies.
    Druids with their wild shape, are great infiltrators, but beyond scouting there's only so much they can do. Add tool proficiencies and mechanical know-how and infusions of an artificer and mischief you can get up to inside enemy stronghold suddenly expands considerable. For artificer a multi-class with any full spell caster is a boon in amount of spell slots and versatility of those spells. Also abilities of some of the druid sub-classes, can offer interesting themes and mechanics to explore.
    Alchemist + Moon Druid = Bear with combat drugs.
    Battle smith + Moon Druid = Two bears.
    Armorer (stealth mode) + any druid = Mission impossible with squirrels.

  • @elliotbryant3459
    @elliotbryant3459 6 месяцев назад

    The Beast Wars Transformer: Armorer artificer (3+) + Moon druid (x) + heavy armor master feat, autognome or warforged as species is optional. When you bonus action wildshape, you can have your armor drop to the ground, and then re-don the armor as an action [or do all of this before combat]. The armor "expands to cover your entire body". Heavy armor proficiency transfers over to wildshape "You retain the benefit of any features from your class, race, or other source and can use them if the new form is physically capable of doing so."
    If you want to further boost ac, fighter 1 + forge cleric 1 both give you +1. If warforged with full plate + shield, defense fighting style, enhanced armor infusion and blessing of the forge, you could have a passive ac of 24. Maybe take defensive duelist, war magic wizard 2, or the shield spell for a reaction ac boost for hits that get through.
    When you get the elemental wildshape feature, you basically become one of the Elemental Myrmidons, so genasi could be a thematic species as well

Spores gives us more tankiness and a good bit of flavor. This build makes you last longer in combat & get more resources for more heals and damage. What lineage? Go nuts. I did an artificer druid build based on zyra in league of legends although I went 15 artificer for double cannons and only took 5 levels in druid for cc since until 15 you can only have one cannon at a time. I flavored the cannons as her plant turrets in game.
    I also hate the conjure spells and don't use it at my table because it bogs down combat.

    Yeah, the protector cannon is pretty awesome. I have to disagree with you about conjure animals. The problem with that spell's use is the more numerous options. If you keep it reasonable, only two or three max, it can be super useful while not overpowering. The problem with the summon spells is that there's only one creature. With conjure animals, you could have waves of 2 or 3 beasts attacking at one time while the others watch. Dog piling is why those spells suck. As Aristotle once said, "everything in moderation ".

    Surprisingly, I don't hate this. I thought I might just because I generally dislike half casters and don't really like the thought of combining nature and tech magic.
    My only critique would be that, unless your DM gives Summoned creatures hit dice (I do; using the brown bear as a template for a level 3 spell, I give a Summoned Beast 3 hit dice +1 per spell level over 2, for example), you're losing out on literally the biggest subclass feature of the Shepherd, with or without the Protector cannon. It's not that forgoing the spell makes the build ineffective, just less effective. I think maybe Wildfire or Stars druid might also be effective, since each provides leveled spells that require attack rolls. 😈
    I'm surprised you didn't mention that Artillerists gain the Shield spell, which can immediately boost the tortle druid's AC to 25. This might also make Warforged an interesting racial choice for this build, though its AC wouldn't be quite as good. 😉

  • @elliotbryant3459

    It really seems like you're shooting your build in the foot by taking an artificer subclass that buffs mass groups of creatures, and also a druid subclass that is there to buff mass groups of creatures (and the features of mass creatures from summon spells), -and then condoning the one spell the build was made for.
    The protector cannon loses a lot of value when there are less eligible creatures in the fray, and I don't think a bonus action burning hands/attack [with an unrelated mental stat] is worth the diversion in levels and stats from druid here.

      Access to other kinds are left as a big 'maybe' in the rule book, so it could very hard or impossible to find someone to craft something so specific. And it could be immersion breaking for a lot of people. For example: Armor made of stone would be incredibly heavy and brittle, armor made of 'iron wood' would be incredible heavy, a lot bulkier and possibly vulnerable to flame or rot. Bone or bug shell carapace armor seems like it would never have the strength of iron. Etc.

      @DeadpoolAli 6 месяцев назад

      How to run conjure animals on table top:
      roll all 8d20s (or whatever amount of creatures). The DM tells you what AC you need to beat (no one cares about secret DMs everyone is it out in one round anyways). Subtract the d20s that don't hit.
      Then use the listed stat AVERAGE damage and multiply by the amount of d20s that hit. This literally takes 30 seconds.
      Give them a shared health pool and Everytime 1/8th the hp is removed you lose one wolf (assuming you summoned 8 wolves). AoE does the damage of its coverage (fireball hits 4 wolves, you do fire all damage X4 to the shared HP pool).

    • @elliotbryant3459
      @elliotbryant3459 6 месяцев назад

      @@DeadpoolAli One thing a dm could do is have some note cards with the results of a bunch of d20 rolls or a shuffled deck of like 60 cards numbered 1-20, and then just tell the player the number rolled per attack [player adds the beast's modifier]. If there is disadvantage or disadvantage advantage they use 2 rolls from the list, checking the numbers of as they go. If using the card with many results on it, the dm would want a few of these cards to draw from so that pattern repetition is lest likely.
