In 1975 one of my stoner friends turned me on to Manfred Mann's Earth Band. Still to this day I listen to the album's The Good Earth, The Roaring Silence and Watch. Yes folks, I'm old as hell and still have all my vinyl albums....all 8000 of them!!!
8k...Wow! I still have a small collection of 70s into early 80's. Bought a turntable about 20 years ago to make sure I had a device to still listen the vinyl. :)
@@ryanmurphy6690 I think it's very good. Jazz-rock but in fact it was the beginning of MMEB moving on slowly to progressive rock and hard-rock and leaving a bit jazz.
back in the eighties, i would sit in the dark with headphones on and the light from early LED meters flashing at me . this album kept me sane but my ( then) wife thought i was stoned, instead of inspired. miss the 80's, don't miss her
@@BeeBumper Very similar story for me. Born in 1992, but my father introduced me early to the greatest of the 60s and 70s, active and passive haha. After some journey, I now know how to appreciate this amazing music!
This is a gorgeous song. But Questions brings me to my knees. And Starbird is amazing. I got this album new in 1975 or so? Listened to it in a damned sonic trance. Epic!
Manfred Mann is one of many gifts given to me by my mothers third husband Richard Hardesty. Me and my sister treated him so badly, but in the end I found out that he landed quite well and is happy. His musical knowledge and collected albums helped me to find a way to get through my very troubled teen years.
Dans le top 10 de mes albums préférés....Musique intemporelle merveilleuse qui n'existe plus aujourd'hui. Vu Manfred en concert il y a 4ans mais en retrait derrière son clavier...
Sitting right here in the basement listening to this album on dads old LP player. I first heard this song in 99...i was 4 years old and i can still remember the moment when dad put this record on!
I remember playing this for the first time foe my step-dad he thought the start was stupid then once he started singing he changed his mind and loved this song and played it in his head as he went hunting.
Yes, thanks for posting. I have the vinyl but don't get the phonograph out that often and I miss Mann. Sing the Dolphin, Starbird, Questions, could listen to this all night long.
I still love this song and band after all these years, but it seemed to me that this particular version was digitized too fast. So, I pulled out the vinyl, checked the speed of my turntable with a strobe, made sure it was right.......and it is digitized too fast. Maybe they made that mistake when they remastered it. But, once again, it's still a great song.
The Lyrics say "Wept for the Zion We remember we remember we Remember the Zion" not "these i am" because the original song , means with zion jerusalem , and its a history song - sry for bad english

Jim Boden I think it’s funny 😂

This whole album is gold.
Not just the helmet, mind you

@@CB-xr1eg lmao that’s so true
I agree!
This band has been seriously overlooked; they are up there with Pink Floyd. Great music.
Much better than Pink Floyd!
Uh yeah I like them but they are not in the same league. Manfred Mann was mostly into covers
THE BEST MANFRED MANS
Check out the solar fire album
@@BeeBumper Some covers... of a simple folk song, Manfred Band made a great Progrock Masterpiece!
I was born in 1992... But I love Manfred Mann's : THANKS DAD !
Awesome. Was he into Floyd and Supertramp too?

Una locura de canción. Arriba las rastas, me descojono. Bendiciones ❤
Loved this album since it was new. Listening to some of it now, Marillion's Marbles album comes to mind.
My favorite is Watch, but most people find this is their greatest, omg the gtr solo is completely insane
This album is pure beauty
One band I wish I seen, but can attest to the roaring silence after a concert.
I remember playing this for the first time foe my step-dad he thought the start was stupid then once he started singing he changed his mind and loved this song and played it in his head as he went hunting.
i used to listened to this album when i was in army,it kept me company
Αγαπημενη μπαντα❤❤❤

Best years ever ❤️
Classic classic ~
Greatest prog album of all time.
An amazing song from one of the best Manfred Mann's Earth Band albums
THANK YOU
Thank you for the upload minaswarning. Absolutely brilliant song, may this album never ever be forgotten.
This is one of the better constructed guitar solos OF ALL TIME, imho, yet it has been lost to obscurity. Sad..
My fave 70s 'Groovy' song.
Yes, thanks for posting. I have the vinyl but don't get the phonograph out that often and I miss Mann. Sing the Dolphin, Starbird, Questions, could listen to this all night long.
Εκπληκτικό κομματι🎸💚
this great music is timeless lol
voila le morceau que j'aimerais écouter en concert
Excellent Album I have the record.
First 1:28 is just EPIC. It matches best of Pink Floyd, Yes or King Crimson. Then not the greatest chorus, makes this song ALMOST flash of genius.
Este álbum continua sendo um dos pioneiros.
Thanks Stripes... You've introduced me to an amazing band.
Remember this playing in my car with the graphic equaliser 🤪
yes Barbara, I think the same, every LP are simply so good

Предатель Родины. Прискорбно.
Вот так вы и всю страну обменяли на гамбургеры со сникерсом.

This is an awesome song, and I love the song "Babylon" Ill Bill did with it too.
Voilà, selon moi, un morceau d'anthologie

Nice progressive
Alot of people I know probably haven't heard this album before
"Spirits in night" is almost o,n the same level and performance

Does the golden helmet reference king Nebechanazzer?
Did anyone have this on vinyl? The official lyrics on the back are so wrong it's unbelievable.
I bought the album when it first came out in the 70's and to be honest with you I never looked at the lyrics for any of the songs on this album.
dope!!!
