watch swamp thing. its great. when i saw the stranger i knew who it was. that shows filled with fan service. the story isnt accurate but its still awesome. derek was so stoked to land that role. i hope he can bring it back some day.
wow this was awesome! i actually have these comics and had forgotten all about this character. There are other not so well known heroes in the marvel universe like jack of hearts and 3D man that i remember thinking were cool as a kid. I'd have to look through my comic collection to see if i still have any of theirs. Look them up and see if they're interesting enough for you to do a video on them. Thanks for this throwback. very cool
@@te9591 yeah he is an old marvel character. im sure not a lot of people would know him. ive collected comics since late 70s and i believe he was briefly out in early 80s. ihad a few comics with him in it. check out this link en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jack_of_Hearts_(Marvel_Comics)
Great video... Blue devil was actually the first comic I ever read as a kid back in the 80's. It's what got me into comics. The series was great... a normal guy stuck being a hero and a weirdness magnet. The book had a great comedic tone.
I was a big Blue Devil fan supporter in the 80s, I had nearly all of the comics. I was really disappointed when it was canceled but hopeful he would make guest appearances, but it didn't happen or at least not to my knowledge. Not crazy about how his origin was recond.. but I get it. Budget why big enough.
His comicbook origin is kinda cool, a fake hero (an actor) becoming a real one and how he is a weirdness magnet, but building a high tech suit just for a movie shoot? And the tech part doesn't seem to really factor in aesthetically or anything, like all those powers could easily be said to be magical. You think if they try to use him more they should show off the tech side of this hero more (like him building some gadgets) or just go full magical with it?
This is why Warner Bros tv/movies have little to almost no "good stuff". Hear me out; S&L is spectacular, The Flash is great, and the HBO max DC shows are good (Doom Patrol, Young Justice etc.) But the biggest let down was Swamp Thing. So many stories to tell and so many heroes & villains to cross over with and WB just cut it. Best option was to put the show on HBO Max and let it go from there imo.
It was a shame the 2019 swamp thing series only lasted one season it was so good. And could have made a great series involving both swamp thing and blue devil. Maybe Netflix or Amazon will pick it up
I NEVER cared for zering but even I though ke killed it in swampthing, his level of acting was perfect, nearly believable, didnt ham it up, criminally unexplored by the early demise of the show, comic fans were robbed once again
having read the entire series and loving them, i have never been a fan of the constant attempts at rebooting his character. He was perfect as he was. I even have a rare action figure of him in the original suit. I was highly irritated by the swamp thing series. How you can introduce Abby Arcane and not do the Alan Moore storyline? I was deeply disappointed by everything about that show, but especially their take on Blue Devil. He simply didnt even need to be there, much less his story butchered like it was.
I loved the Blue Devil comic book when it first came out but the problem with it was out of the first 12 issues, three of these had absolutely STUPID stories, one of which involved his "friend" James Jessie aka the Trickster from The Flash rogues gallery After the 12th issue, ALL of the remaining issues were of equally ridiculous story lines Back then, you could write letters to DC and give them your opinion of the various series, I actually wrote to them and said that if they didn't go back to serious stories, the comic wouldn't last to 50 issues. It lasted 32
Glad i found this! I have all the BD comics including the FoF with the insert. París Cullins was fantastic! So much so that after BD i got the new Blue Beetle and the Forever People, both pencilled by Cullins. The writing, including the weirdness magnet storyline really strained it for me. Great review and origin story for a character that ive always enjoyed!
They should never have cancelled Swamp Thing.
It was to metal for the networks from the clip i saw.
@@te9591 ?
@@j2174 the scene where there was a really aggresive vine that attacked from the laboratory.
Facts 💯
I can see James Gunn making this into a series
He would be a good choice, but what would swperate it from Hellboy?
@@te9591yeah you might have a point
I would love to see a live action series based on this character, as Ian Zeiring said in an interview he could play him in a future series.
Ian ziering is a bad choice though.

It was unfairly cancelled for no real reason. Show was popular.
I think blue devil is very underrated

As usual I like the comic book origin over the tv version.

I knew about this hero during the eighties he's actually a teen Titans.

I keep asking James Gunn to make a blue Devil movie.
He would do Blue Devil justice like no other director. Keep asking, you have my support.
I love you wife For you are the Queen of the blue the blue devil Queen
From me king Sister child, king Sister kiD the Prince of the Jews the king of the Children of Corn.
Not to confuse with the "Devil with the Blue dress on"...
It should have gotten a spinoff and something following Madame Xanadu and Stranger's past.
DC should license to NETFLIX Justice League Dark … let NETFLIX give us a series based on them … let WB focus on BIG FRANCHISE films ..

I remember his comics as a kid and just like I thought back then - that's one of the dumbest origins ever.
Like tech jacket?
Why did the tv series fail? Because they didn't advertise. to Gen X. I had no idea this was even in production.
