Brilliant. I love your kit bashing. It make them look different to anyone else's. My local church is not an even shape all the way round. Thank you for another great video, in 2 parts.
Tony - the Metcalfe King!! Wow, that is superb Tony, I'm really impressed with your build and love the attention to detail you put into these card kits that a lot of people tend to forget but boy, does it show and is so well worth that extra effort as can be seen from your finished church. Well done mate - superb! ............Graham
Thank you Graham for your kind comments, but its just another day at the office lol. I made a slight error when moving the window. but I'm really pleased with the finish result. thanks again Graham...........Tony
As again another lovely conversion, you can probably adapt any of the cardboard kits available into something very close to what you've got in your area ,very clever Tony ,we are all looking at these kits in a different light now ,keep it up very enjoyable.
"modified Slightly" !! wow that is a fantastic job Tony..lead flashing..stained glass windows..absolutely brilliant..there'll be a lot of 00 vicars applying for that cheers dave
Nice job Tony. Great effect. Just a point on the siting of Churches on our layouts. Orientation is important especially if your layout, in some way, is representative of a real location. The Altar in Church is always in the East and, in this type of building, opposite the Tower in the West. The main entrance to a Church is, again generally, in the South. The exit door in the North. This relates to the performing of Funerals where the coffin arrives in the South, where the Sun is at it’s highest (“In Glory” - Gloria in Excelsis) and the Sun Rising in the East (“Rising in Glory” representing Christ). Departing to the North - the darkest side; meaning dying is darkness. The Altar in the East is representing Christ Rising again. Best wishes, Bob
Cheer's Bob thanks for a truly impressive explanation about the sitting position of churches which I knew nothing about. the entrance to the church here at high shields faces North. the other doors are east and west. and still stands today...thanks again cheer's Tony
Great work Tony church does look a treat mate. Excellent idea with the flashing I use very fine wet and dry paper on a few of my buildings as it folds easier and looks the right colour also used the same for felt roofing to
Cheer's Jerry. its worked out alright in the end. and staining the glass has worked out really well as you have said. I'm working an the church yard grounds at the moment. that's should be almost finished for next weekend...cheer's Tony
You have made a very nice job on this popular piece from Metcalfe Tony , just show with a bit of extra work on them and adding lights can make a big difference ..would make a good one to focus on a xmas video with carols being played in the background ....Dave
Great Idea Dave. I don't think I have ever done a Christmas video that'll be a first for me. it would be classic if I can get that area finished in time for xmas..thanks again .............Tony
Hi Tony....I used your led idea in my station.....my mistake was too higher resistance and the yellow leds are dimmer than I'd have liked.....nice bit of modelling as per usual...regards fred
Hi Fred im sorry to here that mate about the LEDs not being bright enourgh.did you test them first as some leds dont like being run in series. thanks again for your comments regards Tony
TONY NORTH EASTERN ....hi Tony I actually wired them in parallel......I've a solution though , I'm adding some more baseboard and moving the station further round the layout as a terminus as I felt it didn't look right near the brick bridge....so the dim lights won't matter ....regards not so bright ......😱 fred
hi tony nice job just one thing why not use warm white leds in the buildings especially domestic ones as the colour would look better than the cold white led just an observation but your building skill is second to none i love the stainglass windows regards
Tony, I live right by a church, and it's certainly not symmetrical. They very rarely are in reality, so I think you are worrying unnecessarily. Really it makes it more real rather than less. It would have been a shame to lose that large window in the tower. The stained glass really looks good too. I was a bit surprised to see another church in the background, is that the rival!
Hi Chazzy. i enjoyed this built dispite the cock up with the side buildings not being level. not long after this came which i think was my best build to date. the vicarage.......not long before you have caught me up...all the best Tony
Nice result Tony. Just goes to show how adaptable theses kits are. You can change them to suit your space. Are you going to use up the rest of that corner with churchyard, graves and landscaping? Cheers.
Hi Alan, Metcalfe have done a great job on the parish kit and as you rightly say they are very adaptable. the next thing is to build some of my cheap stone walling and add the entrance and fill in the landscaping with trees scrubs and some grave stones.. thanks again for your input and all the best Tony
Look at it from the positive side Tony, you have a unique Metcalfe church. Just a thought what do you think kitchen foil, shiny side down, would look like as flashing ? I might give that a go.. The lighting is spot on mate.
TONY NORTH EASTERN Yes the stained glass with marker pen has given me the idea of dirtying the windows to my engines shed on my MPD layout, could be interesting

Hi Duncan. i think with me that is the whole point to be different, but somehow still make it look right....thanks again for commenting. Cheer's Tony

Another great build tony
Another suggestion
Langley models produce a funeral and wedding set maybe a chimney sweep to add details 😮

Thank you Michael yes you are right the kits can be altered to suite your preference in what you want from it. thanks again regards Tony

Look great these kits and especially with the lights , all it needs is a sign over the door saying CURRY DINING and TAKEAWAY . ........Peter
I think I rather turn one into a pub Peter. as there is a old church in Fareham that's been turned into one...thanks again Tony
Great end result Tony will look good on the layout
Cheer's Trevor got in a bit of a tangle when the side buildings didn't line up but I'm well please will the results.....Regards Tony

i like that idea with the Kitchen foil. it probably just need a bit of weathering to finish it of. thanks again Tony
I was thinking what looks like flashing when its worn..thats what gave me the idea mate.
The staggered sides would really upset my OCD but good job, nice church
Cheer's Mike all I can say mate is its unique....thanks for commenting. .regards Tony
TONY NORTH EASTERN Yes the stained glass with marker pen has given me the idea of dirtying the windows to my engines shed on my MPD layout, could be interesting
That would work, it would be interesting to see the results....Tony
