They're using a special plugin that connects to u.s. government agencies servers. The html you see isn't actually html but a secret domain specific language that looks like html. There's a lot of magic involved.

Google's working with Apple to put their search engine as Apple's default reminds me of what Microsoft got sued for some years back in putting their Internet Explorer as the default search engine in PC's.
This is different. The ms suit was they were creating a disadvantage for other browsers, Netscape navigator, by having ie packed in windows. Google is paying Apple for the right to be the main search engine on their devices.

Google is only paying money to make their search engine their default website for search. Users can freely change that in their settings if they want. Its only a few taps away.
If you remember, you can only update Windows (XP, 95/98) using Internet Explorer, if you uninstall it, you can't update.

I get the claims against Google. It's true, they are very dominant. And I would love to see legitimate competition arise in all of those areas. BUT it's mainly because they're the best, or close to the best in a lot of different categories. No matter what's set as default, people will keep coming back to Google products and services.
Apple has/had maps, email, safari, etc. Microsoft has Edge, bing, etc and those are defaults. It doesn't matter. And no other company I can think of puts or has to put links to competitor products in their own products, except Google. You won't find Microsoft putting a link to Chrome in Edge.
I bet all of the DOJ and State officials used Google Search, Maps, RUclips, Gmail, etc within the past 24 hours. If it's such as problem for society and competitiveness, they should stop feeding the machine and use alternative products and services. Google also is more transparent about the data that they have on you than a lot of other companies. They remind you every few months to review your data being stored, delete it if you choose, review your settings, etc. Other companies, collect your info and you don't hear from them unless they are requesting more info.
And isn't Apple and Facebook complicit in the anticompetitive behaviors for accepting the exclusionary agreements to begin with. I honestly don't know a resolution to it. On one hand the dominance of Google allows for very useful integration among their products and services, great features, convenience, great tools etc. If they were to be broken up, we'd all suffer with inferior product offerings. On the other hand, their dominance is shocking and more competition would be very beneficial.
