although not a founding member of the Cro-Mags, he's as real as it gets. He was a roadie for the Bad Brains way before it became cool to be a Bad Brains fan. His back-story is real, and most people would be dead or in prison if they went through what he went through.
Bloodcot rules, Harley rules. They both have their faults and tall stories but they both have gone through more shit than most will ever have to deal with. It's a shame that they can't get along. Parris is the key ingredient to the 'crossover' sound that doesn't get the notoriety that he deserves, such a great guitarist.
Simply an amazing life story..... Without ever knowing his story till this month... cro mags has given me a different view on the punk scene.. etc A real harsh life as a child/kid.... but an amazing true life Watching the other recent interviews, i am happy to see him as a father of 2 boys and a brazilian martial arts teacher etc etc Helping ny charities in new york hands down "thank you john" You give an example of someone being a tough man with a touch life and having that loving soul for the human race. Never judge a book by its cover John- a gentle giant
Oh man. I needed to hear that about thanking his dad. I'm 61, and was still trying to get my asshole dad to like me all the way up until yesterday. He was such a prick I decided I'm done. I didn't want to hate, and realized it is his problem. I never liked my own father. I did drugs, and failed in big ways. But this puts a way new perspective on things. I ended up doing things in life I'd never have done. They made me who I am today. I was going to be a doctor. I ended up ten different things instead.
Funny, both JJ and Harley are good interviewees, both have 'nuff scuzziness in their respective pasts including to each other... Both usually get softball interviews, but I am not sure I'd want to piss either of them off in person, either.Later still the interviewer brings up Bhudism instead of the Krishnas with whom JJ has been famously associated. This guy seems to have glanced at the publicity material - he must have seen the word "orphanage" and assumed John Joseph was an orphan - later in this interview, JJ refers to seeing his mom in his adult life as well. Later still he mentioned his father in a non-deceased sense.I was watching back to back Harley and JJ/Cro mags shows from 2017 and they're both good but the Harley sets are shorter and he stops to bitch about John Joseph. A few years ago Paris Mayhew (sp?) told Vice Harley Flanagan owned the Cro Mags name and John Joseph basically leased it for touring purposes. One of the other 2 said Paris has restraining orders against both Harley and JJ which I thought was amusing.
Paris has a restraining order against JJ because Paris ratted JJ out for being AWOL and JJ found out about it. Paris has a restraining order against Harley because when they were touring for the Revenge album Paris was handling all the finances and ripped the band off. He wrote down all his dealings and how he was ripping the band off in a book which was found and Harley confronted Paris about the book. Harley kept trying to contact Paris about the money and Paris wouldn't respond but got a restraining order instead. Paris was also the one who removed Rocky George from the cover the the Revenge album, which Harley wasn't happy about because him and Rocky are really close and he felt Rocky contributed a lot to that album.
@@Gregbaltzer Doesn't sound a bit silly? .. that Parris would be keeping a diary with point by point details about how he was robbing his bandmates, and leaving his "my theft" diary around for the victims to read? I'm not saying you didn't read these things, and I'm not saying I definitely know this or that.. but, Parris seems like a really honorable guy, and EXTREMELY INTELLIGENT.. and I think it's been established by all 3 that Parris didn't drop dime about JJ/awol
A professional victim is someone who uses there upbringing as an excuse for why they are a failure. John as overcome his upbringing and become a success, finished Iron mans, written books, tours in a band and helps the needy. You, however are a professional Troll, and mission accomplished- I rose to it.

This guy is such an inspiration, massive respect to him.
He’s also full of shit in a lot of ways. The Cro-Mags are one of the most volatile bands of all time.
I love JJs books, he is an inspiration in terms of PMA, Veganism and keeping fit. Respect always.

John is right about people saying, “If you believe in god, you ain’t cool” these days.🙄
John, I bet that for someone who knows what it is "to know that you are food", you'd make a very good hunter.

I don't know if that's accurate. On both counts.
