Obviously he's very knowledgeable and worked with people who are knowledgeable about the craft. But I'm a little confused about the part where he's talking about film and equipment. If they knew about lighting and equipment to this extent, why were all the Burmese movies back then such low quality?

Cuz our country is poor and have limits. How can u produce such good film when u only have limited amount of films. Of course they have no choice but to make the best out of what they have. Also censorship back then was really strict which was done by people who have zero knowledge about film and those people hate changes.
