Samantha Mewis did not make the 2016 Olympic Team, but she was an alternate and traveled to Brazil with the team where she was in every meeting and at every training. In this episode of 23 Stories, presented by Volkswagen, Mewis talks about the importance of family and team bonding, and how her unique Olympic experience taught her to be a better teammate and appreciate the value of playing a role. She learned that being selfless can be incredibly satisfying while also serving the greater good, for her and her teammates.

I met her 2 weeks or so before the Olympics at a Boston Breakers game, she was super nice and really took the time to talk to me about getting ready for the Olympics. Love her representing our home state!
