- With no people indigenous to Christmas Island, every human living there is either a migrant or descended from one.
But there are still families who have lived on the Island for generations and have an extensive, treasured connection to the place.
The Amin family is one of the few Island-born dynasties that can trace their family history on the Island back several generations along the paternal and maternal lines.
These are Khaliesha and Khairin's Christmas Island Stories.
Indeed an excellent video. Reminds me of my childhood. I am from Malaysia and grew up in a small village surrounded by nature. After furthering my studies in Australia and NZ and worked in various places. I am now back to my hometown in IpoH Malaysia. Enjoying my retirement days in the easy going and slow pace of small village life. Now i am doing farming to past time and at the same time to earn some money. Very satisfied and enjoying every minute of it. I can see you guys are having the same living experience. Simple but very fruitful lifeand most importantly out of the rat race.
4 advises to a sustainable Xmas Island if the mine closes some days in future: 1. Make pressures on Australia Government to give more direct financial support and subsidies, and if Australia refuses to do that, then force AU to allow the island to have direct flight & landing visas with nearby countries e.g. Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore... to boost the tourism. 2. Make pressures on AUS to allow Xmas to be a tax-free/low-tax zone for individuals/companies, and establish policies to allow foreign companies especially online Internet companies to be registered in Xmas Island. Also allow the foreigners to open their off-shore bank accounts in Xmas Island. 3. Make a good shape of island's community to the world, to let people to be pround of living here, just like living in Utopia. 4. Invite colleges/universities of Australia/NewZealand to establish the campuses on the island, make pressures on AUS government to turn Xmas Island to be a springboard of technical immigration.

Nice video guys! It makes me want to move back! It's a very special place. Always in my heart! 🥰
The inclusivity of the Community & the different cultures all living in harmony is definitely what caught my attention the first time I visited CI. Very special place - thanks for sharing Khaliesha & Khairin - best of luck with Fourth Seed! :)
Such a wonderful place and i have been wanting to go there as my late mum was born at Christmas Island on May 1956 and we are from Singapore. I didn’t have the opportunity to go with my late mum but someday i would love bring my wife to my mum’s birthplace
