      @Jim Bob unclear. The first sign points right. As I understand it that would be a road off to the right and not the road itself as that would need signs on each side of the road(like speed limit signs etc) not sure why then there is another sign off to the left. Tricky one to say unless you're actually there, either way his attitude stinks

      Please Google map the road shown in this video and then assess it again, then comment. Coming from an HGV driver myself, i always try to see from the other side point of view, not one side. If you looked at the other end of the road, you will see why he was down on that road

    • @gary63693
      @gary63693 2 года назад +6

      @Jim Bob Yup, i'm with you. I google mapped the whole road and the sign approaching him is confusing, as it shows a white arrow that was pointing left. That indicates there is a weight limit of 7.5t to road on the left with the distance on it as well. Could of been a new driver. I sympathize with the HGV as the council obviously has no clue on this occasion. I maybe biased as an HGV driver myself, but i always look at it from both sides, as everyone should do, rather than jumping to conclusions

Now where this driver went wrong is he didn't admit fault which I did. As soon as the locals genuinely knew it was a mistake and I was truly apologetic they were amazing in helping me out. He is the professional driver supposedly, but shown himself to be a complete dick. I wonder what excuse he gave his bosses for the damage to his vehicle, well handled by the lady driver 👍 and I hope she realises that all lorry drivers aren't like that idiot. You should send the footage to his company as if he had damaged the glass in his mirror then that vehicle should have been recovered or he should have called someone out to fit a new mirror but I bet he just carried on his journey with a possible defective and dangerous mirror with sharp objects protruding. He needs reporting to the council as well, if he hadn't been so aggressive then I would have ignored it but you need to pass your evidence on to the various people so he can be dealt with. We all make mistakes but it's how you deal with them and solve them that counts. 👍

    The guy was being a bit of a dick. When driving down country lanes you know this can happen and be prepared to deal with it, especially in a larger vehicle. He could see there was a car behind the camera car who wasn't reversing either. The camera driver did well and stayed calm as the truck driver clearly was trying to intimidate. Situation just needed patience and common sense.

    • @AmeobaKing
      @AmeobaKing 2 года назад +11

      @cookiemonster I don't disagree. Of course it is safer and easier. But it didn't call for the truck driver to have zero patience and to have a strop at having to wait a bit. There was a second car behind the camera car who needed to reverse first and at the start they weren't moving back, therefore there was nothing the camera car could initially do. Waving arms and giving intimidating looks isn't going to help. And then driving unnecessary quickly towards the car as they were reversing at the end was a deliberate act of intimidation and was uncalled for.

    • @AmeobaKing
      @AmeobaKing 2 года назад +2

      @cookiemonster then surely he should be used to it! It's a narrow lane and he's in a truck, if ant driver on such roads can't understand that inevitably you'll have to wait/reverse then hand the license over or use another route. But referring to this one video which is what we are here for, he was being a dick and just needed to take a breather. He wouldn't have damaged the truck then.

    • @AmeobaKing
      @AmeobaKing 2 года назад +5

      @cookiemonster firstly, and to repeat myself, I don't expect the trucker to reverse, I've clearly said that. Second I don't get your first sentence. How is the car driver responsible for the truck driver having a strop? It is the strop that has got this video uploaded and his truck damaged. I seem to be repeating myself but the trucker just needed to wait a bit and give people a moment, and if the car drivers still don't reverse then a simple explaination (which shouldn't be needed) to the cars that they needed to reverse would have resolved it in most situations. Only if they refused to move would I'd defend his behaviour but they just didn't have a chance before the trucker started getting all stroppy.

    Well, I'm sorry to say this but, I passed my HGV at the age of 18 in the forces some 43 years ago and that driver is an idiot. You follow the roads signs, they are there for a reason and that vehicle was well past 7.5 tons. I do agree that sat-navs do act upon occasions but, as a driver, you should know the height, width, and length of your vehicle. and if your truck is too big for the road you stop as soon as you see the sign not go past it. Signs are typically at the entry to a road as was clearly seen in this video. He is lucky that a vehicle with blues and twos was not going the other way. Sounds quite petty I Know but if an ambulance could not get to a destination and a person died what would that driver get charged with? makes you think!

    The car edged forward before the back of the wagon had cleared the bend. So he couldn't get forward, there was a queue of traffic behind him. Which could be seen before he even came round the bend.
    The car had 2 vehicles behind her so only 3 needed to reverse a short distance.

    Unfortunately being given drops down lanes which are unsuitable is part of the job. The LGV driver was stressed because he didn’t want to be on that road and had probably been in similar situations earlier. Honestly when you see these signs and have to carry on past them you’re always hoping that 1) the road is totally empty, 2) the house is numbered not just named because finding a named house is a nightmare on its own, 3) that there’s somewhere you can unload without blocking everything, 4) that there’s someone to accept delivery and possibly assist you and finally and most importantly there’s either somewhere to turn around or that there’s an exit at the end of the lane and it’s wide enough to get through.
    Many’s the times I’ve driven into a lane and prayed I can fit down it let alone pass any oncoming traffic. Always it’s when the unsuitable sign is only facing the oncoming traffic and I see it out of the corner of my eye as I drive in. But by then it’s too late because you can’t just reverse onto a more major road and by the time you’ve jumped out, ran back looked, checked and ran back to the cab and climbed in there could be traffic coming.
    That LGV driver is just stressed at the situation, his body language says he is. The mirror cover is a clip on piece, no damage done he is showing exasperation. He said “Back up love.” That’s proof he’s not angry with the lady and he didn’t shout at her, he showed her he’s having a tough time. It’s his transport coordinator who has messed his day up.

    as a resident of partington this particular stretch of the lanes is well known as a tight section.
    The farmers there won,t give up their land for widening.
    it is frustrating for us residents wheen trucks get stuck down there as it causes massive traffic deadlock.
    drivers passing down this stretch dont give up the space readily because of the scratches to their cars off foilage.

    Whilst there are no excuses for the aggression of the lorry driver, for whatever reason -rightly or wrongly - those vehicles met where they did and needed to pass. There was a car behind the cam car - but there appeared to be 3 (or more) behind the lorry. Even if the vehicles were the same size, I would say the cam car probably should have been the one reversing (they didn't have far to go as we saw).
    Taking into consideration the size of the lorry, and the fact the road didn't appear any wider behind him than the cam car, I really do think it should have been common sense for them ALL to have spoken calmy to work out the best route. The cam car (and maybe the car behind them) contributed significantly to this situation by refusing to understand the difficulty the lorry driver was actually in (even if he shouldn't have been there). The lorry appeared to have had no more room to go back than the much more manoeuvrable cam car did. Either way, though, this still does NOT excuse the way the lorry driver behaved.

    So, weight restriction is within 500 yards of that sign. Is there a farm/ farm building/ yard down that road? Pallet trucks like that, are highly likely to deliver to places like that. The car driver should use the wiper on the rear window, as there was only one car, and she would have had to reverse, probably 200 yards, if that, back to the junction with the sign. Much easier than trying to squeeze down the side, on a bend, where there is either less room to manoeuvre. She has the vision behind, the car behind was more or less following her lead. If you think reversing a vehicle with limited rear view, as in the lorry, is easy, you try it. I have to reverse in the work van, with almost the same blind spot, to let farm vehicles past, then she should have taken the initiative and not try, before the driver had finished.
