Thank you SO MUCH for being vulnerable and willing to tell your story about postpartum depression. I struggled SO BAD with PPD with my third pregnancy, probably d/t the fact our house had flooded just three weeks before I gave birth and we were living in a hotel while it was getting repaired. I was effectively taking care of three boys under 5 in a tiny hotel room while my husband was trying to remodel the house after the flood. I wish I would have reached out at the time. I made it through, but it was such a scary time.
It is SO scary and people truly do not understand how hard it is to reach out for help. I remember screaming inside my head “Meris, ask for help!” But it was just too hard. We need to do so much better by our new parents! Thank you for sharing your experience with me ♥️ -Meris
I love love love that you gave your personal story because it will help so many. I felt the same way you did and I suffered for a year after my postpartum visit. I am now in Nursing school and I have worked as a MA for the past 6 years. The EPDS depression scale was something the Provider I worked for truly believed in. As the MA I knew how important it was to bring up to each and every patient I took care of. Now going forward as a nurse I will have more knowledge to give and a better understanding to help any patient. Thank you so much for these videos. I learn something from each one and they are easy to follow along with. Thank you thank you!
Thank you so much for your kind comment! EPDS is so important, and it's so hard for new parents to self-report when they aren't doing well! You'll make such a difference in the lives of your patients with that outlook :) --Meris
You are such a CHAMPION! Keep telling your story. Someone’s life is always changing for the better when you share your story. Blessing for you and your family and the amazing group of people who run this channel !!
I took my OB and Peds ATIs yesterday and got Level 3s on both on my first try!! I couldn’t have done it without your videos and flashcards. Thank you Meris and Cathy for all you do!
Currently in my second semester of nursing school and I just want you to know how much I admire and appreciate you as a human being as well as your ability to convey messages and topics. You are very articulate and get straight to the point but also add a nice touch of yourself to all of these videos. I am loving following along with notecards and think this is really solidifying the content. I can't imagine losing someone that close to me just 19 days before my daughter was born, you are tough and I am so sorry you had to experience all of that at once. I wish I could give you a big hug. Your dad would be so proud of you and I thank you for sharing your gift with the world and helping me achieve my goals so I can be a future nurse and provide for my little girl too.
meris, my queen, i just need you to know that you are absolutely saving my life during my OB course. i got a B on my first exam with your help, now i'm hoping for an A with this next one!!
You are so welcome! So glad our videos are helping you. Please feel free to share a link to our channel with your classmates and friends in nursing school. ❤️
So thankful for my Ob. I was having issues with sleeping. Literally only slept less than 4 hrs in 3-4 weeks. He gave me a prescription but I was also being stubborn. I was worried about not being able to breastfeed & trying to keep up with cleaning. He told me to get those thoughts out of my head, & that not breastfeeding was okay. He asked me “what is the most important thing right now?” & I said “my baby” & he said “no. Right now, you need to focus on your health because then who does baby have to rely on? She needs you, but you need to get better to be there for her. It breaks my heart to hear you say that. Whoever told you, you’re not a priority right now, don’t listen to them, I don’t care what anyone else has to say. Your baby needs you. You’re her mom.” He wanted me to be away from the baby so I can get at least a few hrs of sleep every day. Of course I was still worried about my breast milk so I had to learn the hard way and struggled. You can say I’m stubborn lol. But what he told me opened my eyes and I eventually had to be away from my baby & I got too weak to even hold her. It made me sad. & yes I suffered more than I should have by being stubborn. I eventually gave up on breastfeeding when I realized I couldn’t take it anymore. It was more stress than anything. My milk was so low so it was like me trying to re lactate. I wish I would’ve listened to him sooner. I would’ve been able to sleep more and stress less, but you live and you learn. Of course I had people in my ear degrading me for not breastfeeding. So if you’re going through something similar. I just want to say that it’s okay to not breastfeed. I’m not telling you to give up, but you’ll know if it has been taking such a huge toll on your life. If you don’t have help, & you feel like you’re spiraling down & can’t take care of your health then maybe it’s time to reconsider. ❤️ motherhood is hard but is beautiful
I really appreciate that you share your personal experience! It helps paint a better picture of these conditions. Thank you for being with us though this difficult journey and doing what you can to help struggling students

I gave birth in 1h , too fast as they induced me for my second pregnancy from 0 to pushing, once my baby was delivered I lost 3 litres and half of blood!!!! Finally they manages to get my blood to stop with embolization. So I nearly died so my husband got a vasectomy. I am sad not to be able to have babies anymore because he is too scared it will happen again : what are the percentage of it happening again. Did my husband make the right choice ?

Only the last one I got wrong 😢🎉
Isnt it postpartum depression if its more than 10 days
thats what my ati book says!
I love you
😂😂You remind me how i love my girlfriend, that woman will cry without a reason for making me a father
Nurse Meris says that for endometritis S/S its hypotension but somehow subtitles got it as hypertension lol.
Thanks for bringing that to our attention… we will work to get that fixed. It is definitely hypotension.
This can lead to sepsis. My wife died with this
I'm so incredibly sorry to hear of your loss
