...I grew up in the San Joaquin Valley - this is an excellent video - it's not the "farts" it's the "belching" - thanks for being so "frank", Dr. Frank!
One question for Dr. Frank, that I think might be covered in one of the future videos: The cow numbers have significantly decreased in the last few decades thanks to better reprodution, veterinary care, nutrition and genetics and overall management. However these cows are now much more efficient (make 4-5x more milk). A logical assumption for a person, that gives it a little more thought, could although be - If today cows milk more=eat more=digest more - doesn't it also means produce more methane compared to the cows 30 years ago? Could this question be answered? Thank you for a great channel - if only people listened to it at least the same, as they listen to media and activists without any education.
Who said cows are eating more? Could they not be bred to produce more milk with less or the same feed. The dairy industry has seen a reduction in methane in the past several decades. He goes on to show that methane from cows follows a carbon cycle (10 years round trip). This is not what is driving climate change. What is driving it is Co2 we get from taking carbon that was in the ground for 450 million years and burn it all in less than 150 years. We can turn methane from cow meat and dairy production turn it into biofuel that we can used to replace the carbon we take out of the ground. Even if cows do consume more to produce more milk, the net benefit is that we are doing this with fewer and fewer cows which take up less space and other resources overall. They are essentially replacing Co2 ( which is causing climate change) with methane to cool the planet. Which means we need to eat more meat and drill oil less. On top of all this, the industry is simultaneously reducing methane emissions ( making cows more efficient consumers). So there is an even greater effect. Things like brushes and seaweed supplements have been proven to increase milk production and reduce methane emissions. Essentially, these are tools that make happier and healthier cows and these cows produce more milk more efficiently. And then, at the same time we are reducing heard sizes. Which means we need less space and resources to support these cows since they are more efficient consumers and producers. All of this combines has a cooling effect. What is really driving climate change are inefficiencies in third world countries using still using 3000 year old methods to produce animal products. If we were to help them develop their animal agro the impact would mean more ppl would have access to nutrient dense animal foods like meat and dairy while we help to reduce global emissions and reliance on oil and gas.
Josphat Konnie you didn’t understand one word that he said. We are a carnivorous species. We have existed in a carbon cycle with ruminants for over 3 million years ( counting our hominid ancestors). There is no problem if we maintain the carbon cycle with them that has been proven to sustain life on this planet for 3.5 billion years. The real problem was when we took carbon out of the ground that was there for 300-400 billion years and decided to burn it all in less than 150 years. That’s the crisis we created. What this guy is suggesting is replacing our demand for the buried carbon with methane produced within the cyclic carbon cycle we naturally get from grass fed cow agro. This switch will reduce the emissions that is actually responsible for warming the planet.
Cows and other ruminants have existed for millions of years longer than cars, ships and planes without destroying the planet. But we will ignore this fact and tell ppl to they are the problem that was caused when we took carbon sequestered in the ground for hundreds of millions of years and burn it all in less than 150 years. Lol🤪 smart!
Adding more cows would not make a difference since as much CO2 is being taken out of the atmosphere to grow feed for them. Methane would go up but CO2 would go down with a time lag of 10 years. Since millions of wild animals have been eliminated that it's safe to say that adding more cows is not going to have a detrimental effect on the planet.
Who is paying to spew this bs? Seriously stop raising cattle. Yes we all love steak but in order to put these practices into practice is a lot of money that most people don't have
I just hope this will be done worldwide soon...
One of the best knowledge actually cow useful for climate I think maybe so now I support you doctor frank and thanku
Meat and milk dairy products shortage?

I totally agree with you. People don't want to learn to solve real problems, But would rather spend a whole day learning how to create problems.
Ya
Them same cows life span is shorter. They have around 5 years life span. And regular cows have 10 to 12 year.

What feed should give to cattle to reduce methane ...?
reducing the emissions of methane is NOT taking it out of the atmosphere. It is putting less in.
That's true, but cow are produced to eat, so will hunger not be a negative thing to the humans that require food.

There Are More Than 1.5 Billion Cows on the Planet. Here’s Why That’s a Problem.
Can you still produce enough fertilizer for the world this way?
Indians call it Gobar Gas

Hmmm maybe we could get rid of all the swamps, marshes and bogs they produce huge amounts of green house gases too.
Ok, methane is decomposed. But into what molecules?

Give latest technology of methane to reduce from cow dung and belches i hope to give us thanku dr frank
#BoycottMeat and all other animal products of cruelty and exploitation in any way possible!
perfecf
Why not get rid of livestock and let the people produce the methane instead
