I watch this because I like seeing them showcase some serious handles, as well as some great moves. To clarify for those that need it, this is not NBA. It's streetball. They can carry, double dribble and travel as long as it culminates in a jaw dropping play or humiliation of your defender. While I agree that if you put MOST of these guys into a team game with rules that you HAVE to follow they wouldn't make it. Because their playstyle is based on the ability to negate the rules that regulate referreed basketball. This is all style with little substance if compared with professional players. You still have to admit that these guys are wizards with a basketball.
1974spr More importantly, nobody is playing team defense. Everything is strictly one on one, with no strategy, no gameplan, no teamwork, no nothing. Passing the ball for the score is not teamwork, that's just a pass. If both teams took it seriously, the game would look very different. But that would take the fun out of the game, which would defeat the entire purpose of the showcase. It's not about winning as a team, its about winning the blue ribbon at the pagentry.
1974spr you're crazy there is alot of tricks you can do in streetball that don't require carry nor travel and they can not travel carry or double dribble who told you that? and the point is to make you're move look flashy and dope it's not intentionally humiliating your opponent
When it comes to scoring i go to Jordan Melo Kobe When it comes to shooting i go to Curry but when it comes to dribbling i always go to THE PROFESSEAAAEEAEAR
He played basketball in college so he actually could have made the nba as an undrated player. Plus he actually can dribble and I don't mind streetball dribbling I mean regular traditional dribbling plus he got a jumpshot. If Rafer Alston made it to the NBA being that he was a streetball player then so could tell professor.
Anthony Jimenez When you're under 6' you need crazy athleticism to make it in the NBA and thats what he's lacking. He's exceptional in every other area
People talk bout professor can't make it in the league. Did you know when final four comes around he's the one that host practice for the guards. Josh Shelby just hasn't made it on to the right team perfect example is Gerald green no one wanted him went to d- league worked on game bam now in the league learn your shit everyone
professor can't make it in the League lol. If he could he'd be there. He can't execute a single move without carrying the ball. Ball Up isn't paying him 10 percent of what he could make on the bench for an NBA team - don't you think he knows that? Trust me he'd be there. In college I played against my university practice squad regularly - but I damn sure couldn't make the team.
What does that have to do with the NBA though? And how is Gerald Green a perfect example? He was drafted in the 1st round, he could've went to any college he wanted, was a consensus all-american and could've been a college star. He chose to skip college and was athletic enough to go to the league. However, Athleticism is only one part of the NBA, Therefore he had to mature more and even now he is nothing more then a role player. The professor has never had accolades like that.
Gerald Green is 6'7 and jumps out of the gym. The Professor is built like a 16 year old chess player. He'd get every shot blocked, every pass picked, and he wouldn't be able to stay in front of the worst PG in the NBA. Let it go white people. You still have Chandler Parsons and a handful of other generic shooters. LMAO
I love how every one of these idiots that replied before me completely missed the fact that he was talking about Josh Selby when he referenced Gerald Green. Apparently, reading comprehension is no longer a necessity in schools. I agree that Selby just wasn't in the right situation. He's 6'2" but plays like a legit shooting guard. You can't be on the Grizzlies and not have a defense first mentality unless you are Vince Carter. His size and the team focus is what hurt him and most of the other teams out there aren't hurting for 6'2" scorers who can't spell the pg position. I mean, who is that short and killing as a scorer? Ben Gordon? Jerryd Bayless? It's a hard sell for him, but I think he could still make it back in and be useful to a team if he works on defense and playmaking.
dana miller When you bounce a ball off a guys head; when you constantly 'carry the ball', when all you can do to make a [sic] great move is to "travel" you are totally disrespecting the game. The game has rules for a reason. Breaking rules is a clear sign of disrespect.
The fact that Josh Selby can't get minutes in the league shows you the amount and quality of talent that makes up the league. Being good is not enough in the NBA. You have to be " great" every single minute, every day, each and every game to get the respect of your coach. It therefore comes down to possessing a certain level of mental fortitude and being able to patiently wait for your time. Is Selby capable of waiting for his opportunity and seize it when it comes to him? The future will tell!
Why doesn't Josh Selby get more minutes in the NBA? geez, this guy is OOZING potential, and he quite easily demolishes streetball. i think he could be a candidate to pull off a jeremy lin type burst into the spotlight.
Actually better than the nba all star game!
no way

I play streetball a lot and i dont do double dribble even if it is a jaw dropping move it is unfair.
2Faced if you make it to that level you would be allowed to do that too.
Ikk
1974spr you're crazy there is alot of tricks you can do in streetball that don't require carry nor travel and they can not travel carry or double dribble who told you that? and the point is to make you're move look flashy and dope it's not intentionally humiliating your opponent

Jay Anderson i was seriously curious lol
dana miller When you bounce a ball off a guys head; when you constantly 'carry the ball', when all you can do to make a [sic] great move is to "travel" you are totally disrespecting the game.

dana miller If you have no rules the game's a joke. That's disrespecting the game. Obviously you don't get it.
Reminds me of White Chocolate
Awesome
Jason Williams in his prime or professor who you got
