Little known fact: Abdulhamid was the founder of the first modern intenational intelligence agency, Yıldız Teşkilatı. It both threatened and inspired UK so much so that when they invaded Istanbul after First World War, first place the English occupants raided was Yıldız Sarayı, headquarters of the agency. He was terrifyingly well informed of the events in Europe during his reign thanks to that agency and sometimes he could stir trouble for English even in Ireland due to this influence. As a side note, Sultan personally financed one of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes books! He liked those stories so much that he would write to the author and share his thoughts about the novels.

Abdulhamid was someone who succeeded Abdulaziz, who was murdered by the Ottoman Bureaucracy, and it was not possible for him to become a sultan under natural conditions. In its early years, the State had no influence on its governing power yet. Although he did not want to enter the Russian war, he could not prevent the state bureaucracy. You cannot attribute the losses of the Russian war to this rookie ruler. The Ottoman Empire was so weak that it could not win any war it could fight. The most beneficial thing Abdulhamid did was to stay away from war with his political skills. In fact, the imperial powers that wanted to bring the Ottomans into war had to remove him from the throne. They worked for this for decades, they supported the training and strengthening of a team that would take over the administration of the Ottoman state, and by supporting this team, they turned it into a force that would serve their own purposes. This force eventually seized power. The Ottoman Empire was drawn into the hell of the world war and was surrounded from outside and inside and destroyed. The Sultan did not have enough power to reverse all this. He was left alone. He was surrounded by bureaucrats who made themselves look cute and constantly fed him false information. He was constantly afraid that his throne was about to be usurped and that he would be killed like his uncle. He was prevented from leaving his palace for various reasons. Worst of all, he had become estranged from his own people and religious people. What could one man alone do? Some of his soldiers surrounded his palace. The British navy was anchored opposite its own palace and its cannon batteries were turned towards the palace. He was eventually removed from the throne. The Ottoman Empire was brought into the world war by the team trained by the western imperialists and was disintegrated during Abdulhamid's absence.
It is easy to attack him without understanding the conditions in which he lives. The new generation of Turkey's children, who cannot see the sinister centers of power wandering around Istanbul and the ambassadors behind them, should not blame their own ancestors. The fact that you protect him depends on how good a generation you are.
