When I watched this live it gave me the briefest moment of complete childlike wonder as my brain tried to tell me that was a real dragon. I mean it only lasted like half a second, but 5 years later I'm still grateful to Riot for bringing it to me.
It was the legendary and at the same time most heartbreaking worlds championship.
@@jamantemarcelo6523 T1's performance has been very phenomenal lately, I believe that Faker can won World Championship one more time before retiring. I mean he's already a literally LEGEND, every pros look up to him. Even Riot called him ''The Eternal King Of LCK'' . No one has ever, ever won 3 championships, Faker even won 2 championships consecutively in 2015 and 2016. Smt that NO other teams has been able to do. 2017 was heart-breaking, but it only makes him stronger, no one can stays forever at the top. But that doesn't mean they can't RISE back up again.

the dragon is part of the game! he's called the elder dragon, either team can kill him for a very powerful buff!
Executing the enemy team when the get to 5%-10% hp to forget the exact number but it’s a game winning buff.

The reason "Legends never die" has such an impact on players , especially those that know the lore , is that these champions became strong through hard work , Ashe and Garen were the old tutorial characters , everyone had them and played them at some point , while Lee Sin was the peak of expertise since his abilities can backfire or win games , everyone who played him felt that progression from rookie to monster.

The song "Legends never die" became very popular a second time (at least on the internet) after the death of Kobe Bryant, a legendary basketball player.
Ashe (the ice archer) is like the starter character, she is in the old tutorial so feel very acurate put it in this cinematic, 'cause every legend rise from a very similar place
It's funny that they've never seen Ashe because she's not only one of the most iconic champions but also super important lore wise as the leader of the largest faction in the Freljord, yet Riot has only featured her in this Cinematic and one of the ancient janky ones.

I actually haven't played league since 2018, do players not use Ashe anymore since the reactors don't recognize her?
A few things.
1. The location was Bejing, so the opening group was one popular in china.
2. This was the first year of the Elder Dragon (the dragon we saw flying) in the game. Plus china has a huge dragon history.
3. Chrissy also was in the Pheonix performance as one of the performers. Backbend OP.
For the first video. Lee sin is a blind munk from ionia. Ashe is the archer queen from frielord and garen is garen. Lee is one of leagues most popular characters. Surprised he isnt in many cinematics

I love how you guys just watched Arcane and went "Hey, this universe is pretty cool, what else does it have to offer?", and after that you just completely immersed yourselves in the Runeterra universe and started watching animations, reacting to champions, etc.

Not a song I listen to every day, but when I hear it, it always gets me! Great performance by Chrissy and Against the Current ❤️.I like that Riot choses artists from the league community (same with Imagine Dragons and Nicki Taylor) Gives this "one of us feeling".

I dont think it's underrated. On every league, reddit, and RUclips poll, when people vote for a best world's song, no song has ever bested Legends Never Die and everyone complains we don't get another one like it.
@@lachlanhudson7404 It was just a feeling that whenever it comes to best league song it would be K/DA, True Damage or Rise (which are all great) . Could be a wrong perception of course. But if it is ranked higher I'm happy for sure! 😃👍❤️

This particular years opening, was actually probably the most known one.
Firstly for Christina Nicola Costanzas/Against The Current live performance of "Legends Never Die" and her iconic back bend singing.
Secondly, for the LIVE animation of the Eldar Dragon - which some of the actual producers didn't even know was going to happen!
And thirdly, this was the year in which it was a Korea vs Korea final (SKT1 Vs Samsung Galaxy) and was the first time in history, SKT1 lost 3/0 in a World Championship, preventing SKT1 (And the *goat* of League, midlander *Faker* ) from reaching his 4th World title - Which still to this day, he has not gotten since.

When you realize that the season 1 attack on Titan and chicken run arcs shared similar narrative premises. :P

That dragon was absolutely crazy when we first saw it. Absolutely nuts. Its also really hard to make augmented reality work that well. Especially if it is indoors as you can see when you have watched the 2020 ceremony. But they absolutely nailed the dragon.
For me Worlds 2017 remains the best Ceremony ever! The song, the crowd, the dragon, the whole setup was amazing!
Faker really is the MJ of League, sadly he didn't win this world championship, but he did play in the finals, you can see him in the back alongside his team, SK Telecom T1.

Surprised no one said to you who the other characters are:
Lee Sin is a master on ancient martial arts from Ionia. Though he went blind long time ago he never stopped protecting his homeland and people.
The archer is Ashe. She is the warmother of her clan (The Avarosan) and wields a bow made of True Ice (only a few are born with the ability to manipulate it). She wants to unite every tribe on Freljord and stop the wars between them. There is a comic made in collaboration with Marvel about her, called Ashe: Warmother. You can find it online on the League of Legends Universe site or in physical format at comic stores.
Dragons are objectives in the game , both teams can do it and they give different bonus depending on the dragon (fire , mountain , wind , earth , ocean and hextec)
When a team has 4 dragons , then spawns the most powerful of them : the elder dragon (the one you saw on hologram) , he gives massive bonuses to the team killing him (generally guaranteed win)
The elder dragon was added to the game during the season 2017 , that's why he was in the ceremony. I think there are videos explaining how they did the effect if you're interested !
Imagine Dragons also did a World's Song in 2014, and they got the job because they play the game as well :) It feels much more special to us players when another player makes the World's song. The dragon that appeared is called Elder Drake from the game, it's the most powerful dragon, it appears at the end of the game and gives the team who defeats it great stats to help them win the game. No one expected the Elder Drake to appear though, it was kept a secret and I remember I was watching the ceremony with my friends and we all went wild.

The archer is Ashe, the Frost Archer. An Iceborn and the current leader of the Avarosans, the more diplomatic and peaceful of all the three warring tribes of Freljord. She also wields the Bow of Avarosa herself, and it is made out of True Ice (basically an Ice with magical properties that can never melt and can only be found in Freljord).
The martial artist is Lee Sin, the Blind Monk. He is a warrior-monk and one of the greatest martial artist in all Ionia, and even possibly, of all Runeterra. He harnesses the essense of the dragon spirit in his fighting style.
And last but not the least is Garen, the might of Demacia. But i see you guys are already familiar with him already...😁
You finally did it! I love Arcane soundtrack but this still has got to be my favourite LoL related song. Chrissy costanza is amazing and this song is sooo iconic.
Ashe was the original AD carry and she was named afterMarc Merrill the CEO's wife if i recall correctly. Shes the queen of frelfjord married to the king Tryndamere who was named after Riot Games CEO Marc 'Tryndamere' Merrill's Everquest character, So the OG power couple. Lee sin was added only 2 years after release in 2011 so hes also one of the old ones, hes a special champion that anyone who plays lol knows about. One of the first jungle characters.

My top 3 World’s songs are Rise, Legends Never Die, and Phoenix. The latter two both include Chrissy Costanza. So yeah, she’s awesome :)

The archer is Ashe. She is the Warmother of Avarosan and the reincarnation of Freljord's Queen Avarosa and basically she is the current queen of Freljord. She was the battle sister of Sejunai the reincarnation of Sirilda tribe's leader of Freljord and sister of Avarosa(The one with riding the boar in "The Call" video) Sirilda and Avarosa was the sister of Lissandra, basically since Lissandra hasn't died yet, she treats them both (Ashe and Sejuani) as her sister

Such an amazing opening ceremony, probably my favourite one. The song is great too and Agenst the Current and especially Chrissy killed it there, so good. The dragon was just "a cool addition" for me and that says alot considering it was a fing dragon :D

glad that you enjoyed against the currents performance there. theyre actually a brilliant liveband, which Ive seen earlier this year and probably again in the end of the year. they even do play this song during their livesets most of the time at the end. chrissy started her career doing coversongs and being a streamer, yes, soon they wrote their own songs and started a big music career.

There is a side character in a show on Netflix called Mongol that the blind fighter is based off. He's a real historical figure. He even got a stand alone spin off show telling you his story.

Never cared for the first performence as well, but love the sec song and her performance, also the dragon was the first time they did something that big in an opening ceremony so it was really hype to see that when we didnt expect something like that at all.
The blindfolded champion is Lee Sin, one of the most powerful ones but hard to master. The song is about hardwork, mastering Lee Sin is peak mastery of the game
The taiwanese singer is called Jay Chou and is probably the most famous artist that sings in Chinese. He is literally known as the "King of Mandopop". It's like the Eastern Micheal Jackson ( with different style obv), who will always be the king of pop.

I will never forget this song or the championship specialy. This Final was the Faker actually lost and even after winning two matches almost on his own.
There is a picture of Faker crying his chair after beeing one win short of becoming the champion (considering is old for an esportler and people thought he was going to retire after this final).
Some time after the match someone drew that picture him crying and with next to the champions he played this tournament and gave it the title "Legends never die". Even though he already was a 3 times champion, he still tried the hardest, won his team games when they needed him and was the most heartbroken after the lose. This actually made cry and I will never forget "Legends never die", because he became a legend for me.
Lets be honest, Faker had to play 1 v 9 at times with 3 v 7 at best lol.
Even to this day I respect Faker's ability and commitment to his craft. He is professional and passionate. I hope he can continue to be a role model and mentor to the new generations of T1 players.

That os called the elder dragon, its a part of the map, and is a late game, teamfight winning objective. Killing it can win you the game with the powerup it gives your team.
Opening singer is Jay Chou , Jay Chou was one of the most popular singer in China
The Dragon of the live presentation was real, in fact people died when the tail hit them while flying xD

I hope that you will also watch 2021 Worlds making of if not for reaction just for your own enjoyment it really gives a lot of info how they do thier magic. And yes the dragon is a part of the game it is Elder Dragon.
The bow is made of "True Ice" normal people can't even pick up one of those, if you remember the cinematic "The call" the girl with white hair has a flail, and is blue too, that' is also made of "True Ice"
The singer of Legends never die is also the singer in Phoenix. Her flexible spine trick here, she also did that in the phoenix live performance. Also the Dragon is the strongest Dragon in the game right now called the Elder Dragon. That buff is OP in the game.

The Dragon is actually the Elder Dragon which is in game that spawns as the last Dragon Objective. The team that kills the Elder Dragon gains massive buffs and can easily end the game.

wow I'm impressed with them hitting the locations of each champion just by looking , Ionia Demacia and Freljord , just get closer to Lore like they did and already noticed things like this
The guy with the bandana on the face is called lee sin, he is the most difficult jungler to play in the game.
19:47 The dragon is an important target for jungler in the game, it gives party wide buffs that stack as the game goes on. It is an epic monster that is neutral and an important objective to control located near the bot lane. I don't remember if this is the season when they implemented the big changes including elemental drakes that give different buffs, I think it is, but now you can stack up to 4-5 buffs I honestly cant remember outside of game, which gives you the dragon soul buff, and the elder drake spawns after that, and his buff is massive, including a %hp execution so any champs you hit at that level just die.
Something else that was kind of neat in this vid, at least if you ask me, that first performance with people dressed in the different colors they went down lanes like in game for red vs blue team. Kinda neat, but yea, did not care much for that song myself, and also do not know who they are.
I had absolutely the same reaction about the performance- the first song was pretty random, with out of sync singing with the instruments, but I think they are famous singers in China (the Finals took place in Beijing), so it was probably pretty cool for the chinese viewers, who know them.
Legends never die has always been my favorite worlds song. That and Phoenix. I have struggled with so much in life, so much trauma, so many times in these past years I’ve just wanted to give up on life and sometimes I just have to put songs like this on repeat until it gives me the strength to keep fighting. It’s part of what made me really attracted to riot games early on. The messages behind these awesome songs is all about not giving up even if it’s primarily referring to winning a game vs surviving in life.
You did get bonus points for guessing all the regions correctly. Once you’re familiar with all the different regions it’s easy to spot which one is which because they are all drastically different from each other.
The female archer you saw is one of the 3 leader heads of freljord, the 3 sisters. Ashe is the one sister in this video with the bow. You saw one of the sisters Sejauni in the call and you saw lissandras minions attacking Ashes people (braum+cousin) in one of the realms of runeterra videos.
Lee sin, the blind monk, from Ionia is blind but can see things around him via a special type of magic or effect. (For example bats have echo location, other creatures have ground sense. Something like this)
I remember it like it was yesterday. 2017 Summer was a giant patch that changed the game very much, the dragons were the big part of the change, the elder drake (the one in the Video) was added as a monster that you can kill in the late game to get a buff that helps pretty much to finish off a game or give the other team the comeback.
Because it was the year of the patch and the first world with this patch the dragon was animated into the stadium. It was also the first time Riot did AR stuff for their Worlds.
The first live performance was the opening ceremony so thats why there was no players in that. Ingame there is a neutral objective simular to Baron but this 1 is called Dragon and its random what elemental type out of 4 that dragon will be and when your team manage to kill it the team will be given a permenant buff for that specific elemental type. Dragon also respawn every 5min so u can stack those diffrent buffs. What u saw was called the Elder Dragon and it start to spawn instead of the regular elemental dragons after 35min as a game ending mechanic. Just like killing Baron will give your team a temporary timed big buff, Killing the Elder Dragon will give your team a massive timed buff and will very likly lead to the end of the game. In pro play u often se the team that dident kill Elder Dragon to try and stall as hard as possable and give up ground and defensive towers if needed to avoid having to fight and just wait for that timed buff to go away. U dont wanna fight 5v5 against a team that has that Elder dragon buff. Ofc just like Baron, The Elder dragon also respawn 6min after getting killed so u cant just turtle inside your base or u will get steamrolled.

The Dragon is the second most powerful neutral monster on Summoner's Rift in League of Legends. Slaying the Dragon grants the team a powerful buff.
The dragon is a monster in the game that you slay in game. Another one is a big tentacle monster called Baron Nashor.
God I remember when this song was used in every goddamn League Highlights, Compilations, and Memes.

You should watch some of the "CBLOL" championship openings.
The CBLOL is the Brazilian championship and the openings are around the same level of the worlds openings, so they are really huge and mind blowing presentations that even inspired some of the worlds openings.
You won't regret it.

9:44 - I'm probably gonna die on this hill but every time I watch this part (and I watched it a lot of times) I'm 95% sure the camera man stumbles over the person sitting there, playing the Instrument, not only does the cammera wobble like crazy but the music also sound a bit like vinyl scratching for a brief second, like the musician lost their ballance and played wrong.

There are very beautiful voice lines for kindred you can react voice lines of champions like pantheon or aatrox. Their voice lines are pure art. There is a channel named Just Another Nobody i really like their edits of voice lines.

When I first started playing league, it was the end of season 7 which is the season legends never die came out. I tried to download league using my aunt's Wi-Fi which only has like 50 kbps download speed and the downloader keeps playing this song for hours as I wait for the game to get installed, suffice to say that their hypnosis works wonder since this song keeps giving me chills no matter how much I've listen to it :D
