I just got that idea and got carried away. This is perfect though!
Stan and Ford brainwash Bill to go back to his old self after they see Bill and Dipper kiss. Dipper doesn't understand what's gotten into his demon, so he's led to believe Bill has gone back to his old ways, and erases his memories.

This fits so well because JD and Bill are basically the same levels of crazy. In both cases the warning signs were there from the beginning but Dipper and Veronica just didn't see them I guess. Honestly how do you not see the signs? In the musical this is like a huge turning point for Veronica's character and she acts like this came out of nowhere when even before the jocks died he literally beat people up, joked about (and eventually) killing people, and slept with a chick that broke into his house in the middle of the night. Yeah in this AU and in the original musical, this is completely natural for the character because JD and Bill are Insane! no amount of love can stop the insanity

This fits so well because JD and Bill are basically the same levels of crazy. In both cases the warning signs were there from the beginning but Dipper and Veronica just didn't see them I guess. Honestly how do you not see the signs? In the musical this is like a huge turning point for Veronica's character and she acts like this came out of nowhere when even before the jocks died he literally beat people up, joked about (and eventually) killing people, and slept with a chick that broke into his house in the middle of the night. Yeah in this AU and in the original musical, this is completely natural for the character because JD and Bill are Insane! no amount of love can stop the insanity
