    The quote
"It can't happen here could not be depended on: Anything could happen anywhere, given the circumstances"
Is so surreal to hear after the U.S government overturned Roe V. Wade basically overnight with no announcement or collective vote.

Not disagreeing with what you said but figure there should be some context for anyone who read this and believed it entirely. The U.S. Supreme Court is not a legislative body, so its decisions do not involve a collective vote by the public or legislators. Instead, decisions are made by a majority vote among the nine justices. In the Dobbs case, the decision to overturn Roe v. Wade was made by a majority of the justices. The process of overturning Roe v. Wade was not sudden or without prior indications. The Supreme Court had been considering the Dobbs case for some time, and a draft opinion indicating the court's likely decision was leaked in May 2022, a month before the official ruling.

Very good. And for Canadians its very clear to understand the parallels. And we've arrived at this speculative fiction.

How so? Handmaid's Tale clearly describes current Islamic theocracies such as Iran.

@@KDC_1899 Handmaid's Tale clearly describes any totalitarian regime or extreme ideology that degrades and oppresses women, including Reagan's new religious christian right

@@ishastrega6851 Transgender religion? That's rather a misuse of the term religion. Attacks against transgender people are amongst the highest out of any people in society, they're anything but worshiped.
