Thanks for this! I'm about to paint Teddy and usually would use a mint green. I wonder if that's why the blue and yellow works well for you? Yellow + blue = green after all 😊
Absolutely! I feel like it's just the ratio that's a bit off in the mint green for orange kits, which is what I used to use before learning this way. It's so much easier to control the end color of your vinyl. I hope to see your results!
Hi dear thanks for sharing your great talent 🙏 really appreciate 💕 .I do paint babies occasionally for myself I use air-dry paints from Canada the Ozzie's reborn paints . . It seems that with your colours the look more realistic 🎉 . Do you mind asking if you baught this kit from Macphersons? As four months ago baught the Rosalee kit by Sandy Faber and when I took her out I found a round black marker the size of our small finger nail on the front side of the head😢 I blamed the costumes and the y said they didn't damage my doll and Macphersons didn't reply to my e mails !!!! Praise the Lord it is hidden with a wig that I bought for her as I don't know how to apply hair and what are the tools I need to buy 😢 good day and we'll done for your work ❤
That's awful! You know I can't remember if I bought this kit from Macpherson's or Truborn. I buy from both regularly. This mark was so strange because it hadn't been there before. I think it was embedded in the vinyl and heating brought it out. But vinyl quality lately is so terrible!
It seems to me that the genesis colour EARTH MINT might provide a shortcut with fewer layers needed. Have you tried that ?
Yeah I have tried it and it doesn't work the same. That's actually what I used to use before figuring out this method. I'm not sure if it's a ratio issue of blue and yellow in earth mint or what it is, but it doesn't give me the same great results I get doing it this way.
Hi, I understand. I think you are going for warmer colours than me in painting, as I mostly base my dolls colouring on my own skin colour of the inside of my arm. And that is a cooler tone. Just discovered your videos and like them a lot. @@ebornsreborns
@Magikgardenbaby I do the same thing with my arm! It's the handiest color reference ever! I have very pale skin with blue tones. Because of that I actually paint much cooler tones. I think next to my skin tone warm toned babies look so orange or yellow to me! I never use yellow during painting, and during this process I use 3-4 layers of blue to every 1 layer of yellow, so it should be cooler then earth mint. But of course it depends on the vinyl color. I've had kits that are very dark pink, for those I alternate earth mint with white, this mix won't work well on those. But it's works great on the dark orange kits to get a nice neutral base. I'm so happy to have you here ❤️❤️
Yes I enjoy talking about reborning and learning new things. Of course each of my reborns does have a slightly different skin colour, like you say, different vinyls, ages of the baby and most of all intended ethnic origin. I should search your videos to see of you painted any black babies or mixed races. Maybe I can get a few more tips I did not know about. I think your videos are a godsend to many who still want to learn more. @@ebornsreborns
@Magikgardenbaby You are so sweet! Unfortunately I don't paint darker skin tones, I am trying to, but I'm not good enough with them yet to make videos about it or sell them. Hopefully in the next year! They are very challenging though my specialty is definitely lighter Caucasian tones.
Does this method also work on kits far into the painting process? Like the skin color ended up getting kind of orange during painting and you'd like to rectify that
@ApolloFour this is for lightening, if you don't want to lighten but just neutralize orange you would do some blue layers without white. If you want to lighten also you can do this method but will likely have to redo your details as it will lighten everything.
@@ebornsreborns gotcha! Thank you very much 😸I happened upon this video right when I was considering what next step to take because I would not like to start over. I appreciate your response, I can weigh my options on if I would like to lighten as well
I have a doll the color of the OOMPA LOOMPAS AND ITS SCARY DONT KNOW HOW TO SAve 2 kits I see your video you say 10-20 layers ? And alternate the blue and yellow wash ?
Some take more than 20 layers, one kit I did 36, but average is less. I do 2-3 blue washes then 1 yellow, then repeat. ❤️
Thank you so much for this. You're amazing 👏 😊
Yes, the Noah awake I got is very dark orange too. Thank you for this I wish You could have shown all the layers you have done till now. I am so baffled on how to make the orange vinyl into a fair skinned baby. :/ Thank you again.
Your so welcome! Next time I do it I'll make a video with all the layers. I don't have good software yet to edit more then 2 videos together, so I try to keep it to what I can fit in 1-2. It's definitely a goal to be able to do full ones edited together!
@@ebornsreborns Oh I am grateful you showed this much. You said you did blue and purple before, I will do that first and then 3 blue to one light yellow. You know I tried to record how I do my lips and I made a complete mess lol I admire you for doing so well :) Thank you. I followed your etsy store. It says your name is Emily? Nice to meet you Emily, my name is Grace
The yellow definitely makes me nervous! My teddy looks very orange so I’m going to try this out when I start painting her🤞🏻
It made me so nervous the first time I did it also! I'm about 12 layers in and my Teddy looks great already. I still want to go a little bit lighter but I can see a huge improvement
@@ebornsrebornscan’t wait to see him when you’re all finished 😊
I use white with Genesis Yellow mixed in. Makes a cream color to neutralize my orange vinyl. It tones the orange and makes a creamy complexion. But I'm going to try the blue and white layers along with my yellow white layers next time and see how that turns out.
Where can I get that size bottle of thinners from please xx
Thanks Emily, you always have something new to teach us. Knowledge is the key to success. .

@MothersLovingArmsNursery Awesome thank you!

Thanks heaps...
My doll is very orange I mean dark orange like almost pumpkin orange so I’m gonna try this and see what happens I’ll be updating my results on my channel
I hope you get great results!
Thanks I’m gonna try I have a recipe from a good friend of mine and I’m gonna try it’s the white wash with a tad of yellow hardly yellow mostly white
Emily, I am sorry to bug you so much. Do you bake after every layer? and do you wait for the layers to dry before you bake? Thank you.
I bake after every layer, it can get muddy and chalky if I don't. And I don't wait for it to dry, the white will get chalky if you let it dry first, so I just bake right away
@@ebornsreborns Thank you so much.
Hi I use ultimate fusion air dry paints do you think the method will work just as good .
Yes! I actually used to use air dry as well. I used ultimate fusion and then golden fluids, but I lightened the same way with air dry ❤️
thank you for your help
@@ebornsreborns
Hi sorry for asking did you mean to do 10 rounds of the blue and yellow combo
@ravang6845 Each kit will vary, I'm pretty much counting total layers. On one kit I had to do around 30. Doing roughly 2-3 blue to every 1 yellow, other kits I've only needed to do 10 total. You'll just want to look at your kit when it's light enough and decide if you want to end on a yellow or a blue. Like if the kit is the light enough, but looks a touch on the cool side I'll add one more yellow and end there.
Have you ever painted the rebornskinfx kit? Some of them are so cute but i am afraid to spend money and get one of those hard to paint rubbery kits.
I haven't yet!
@@ebornsreborns Ok Thank you sweety
EMily I am doing my lightening layers and I added thinning medium and a few drops of the exodus oil and then monalisa thinner to make it translucent but my babies are a little chalky, any advice? I am doing the first three light blue layers right now.
If there is any chalkiness it means they aren't thin enough. Even addingthe thinning medium they still need to be very very thin.
@@ebornsreborns Thank you Emily :)
Emily you mentioned the blue and purple layers,
1). were the purple also very light, mixed with white? Or just blue and red? Would you be able to please show the purple color you mixed for the lightening layers?
2). Did you also do 3 layers of light blue and 1 of light purple (lavender?) Sorry I want to start lightening my noah awake by reva schick I don't want to make mistakes. It ruins the vinyl to strip it, if I make too many mistakes. Thank you so much. Have a beautiful weekend Hugs
I'm going to need to watch it and let you know, I might have been talking about something I had tried before or done before. For lightening I only do layers of the white blue and white yellow. I'll r watch the video again though and let you know exactly
@@ebornsreborns it was at the beginning. Thank you so much
Ok! I just watched, I was just saying I was going to do a lavender layer later because I got her light enough, but still wanted less yellow on the kit, so it wasn't part of the lightening process, just color correction as I continued painting as normal. I honestly can't remember now exactly what kind of lavender, but I usually do a few lavender mottles when they are too yellow still. I just mix dioxine purple 06 with thinner and then do some regular mottles.
