We have used our Solo for about 18 months and really like it. Mrs. Rick and I only drink one cup of coffee in the morning, and this is perfect for us. There are some machines that measure slightly faster, but waiting 15 seconds longer for our drink is not going to be a deal-breaker for us. We have several generic DIY coffee pod holders and they all work fine. We also use it for loose tea, and have even been known to stuff a tea bag into one of the DIY coffee pod holders with good success. Our travel mugs fit well when we move the base. We give it a five star out of five star and recommend it for light coffee drinkers.

My observations regarding operation. I exclusively use the refillable K cup that came with the machine as I find I can get the optimum grind of my Lavazza brand espresso whole bean coffee using my bean grinder. It is just short of grinding the beans to a powder. I have also found out that after closing the lid with the loaded refillable K cup in the chamber I push the ON button along with the BOLD setting and wait for 60 seconds before pushing the 12oz. setting I get a stronger more flavourful cup of coffee that compares well with my "Old School" ILSA ,Made in Italia stainless steel stove top percolator. Another thing I've found is that by using bottled distilled water results in a superior no bitterness brew. I really like this machine, as I do my "Instant Pot Duo Mini" pressure cooker. Same company manufactures both devices. Superior engineering, design and manufacture. P.S.I like the bleepy, bloopy, growling sounds it makes. Morning smile.

This is a really nice review! My dad wants a coffee maker for the house, as we recently got rid of ours and switched to tea. He enjoys tea as well, but wants to have that coffee time to time, so I am in the market for one. Thank you so much for this review. I was having trouble locking the loose grounds pod. Your video was perfect. Nice and close up. I couldn’t get the lid to close and it would leak. I missed putting the lid in the little slot in the front of the pod. Duhh. So now it locks and no more leaking. Very happy. Thanks again.

@@mmanda515 Everything is great with it. The only con we’ve had is the fact that an extra ounce or two of extra water comes out. I’m not sure if all pod coffee makers do this, but if I want a 10oz cup like I’d make in my Keurig Mini, I push the 8oz button & my daughter pushes the 10oz for her regular 12oz cup. I do miss the idea of how much water I put in is what I get out. Other than that learning curve, we like it a lot & it does look nicer on the counter.

Looks nice! After 3 Keurigs blowing out I had enough and got a Bunn MCU My Cafe and I love it!!!. Keurig's reliability is really bad! Didn't know that Instant made a single cup maker. Thank you for your video! Going to buy one for my neighbor's birthday, her Keurig is leaking all over the place.

I have the other version of this that I got from Walmart. But Amazon has these on sale. I want to get one because of the different colors. I didn't know about the end when it shoots the water out that it's clearing the airway. The machine I have though is fast and wonderful. Can't wait to try this one! Love the review!

I just got this machine and Love it. Makes great coffee but my machine will not use the Perfect Pods. The top won't shut all the way but other than that I'm very happy with it.
Not all pods are made the same, Perfect pod sells a couple others I might try them.

I just bought this on Amazon. My Kerig I bought last year is basically unusable. Hoping for better luck with this brewer. Don't think I'll ever buy another Kerig.
Great review! My Keurig K-Mini hasn't completely worked right in a long time, and now it's outright impossible to use. I tried getting a replacement, but that was DOA. So I thought it was time to switch away from the Keurig brand and get something else that could still use K Cups. So I'll be getting my Instant Solo very soon! Thanks for helping me know what to expect. Looks like a good purchase.
Since your comment is from 2 mo ago, not sure if you already purchased one of these, but this coffee maker is what I replaced our Keurig with. Weve had Keurigs for a long time, but the quality doesnt seem to be as good as it was at one time. We got 2 bad ones in a row. I love this Instant Solo Coffee Maker & have had it for several months now

@KonservativeKim So I'm not the only one to get several bad keurig brewers. I am on my 5th bad one in a row. They don't last more than 3 to 5 months. I do register them, and they continue to replace them, but I'm getting tired of jumping thru their hoops. I just ordered this brewer.

Hey! Great video! I just bought this and am following directions BUT it says to run a cycle with just water and no coffee product inside. I can't get the darn thing to start heating the water to start the cleaning process. Any tips? Yes, it IS plugged in and I pushed the 8 oz button like it says! Thanks!

I purchased it. I was very disappointed in it. I kept it one day. The ounces were not calibrated properly. the 8 oz was only giving me 4 oz of coffee. The 10 oz gave me 12 oz, and the 12 oz gave me 16 oz. I tried it so many times, and it just didn't work out for me. I loved it otherwise from that. Hopefully, this glitch can be fixed.

The Instant coffee maker on Amazon is where I purchased mine from and it was a Genuine Instant Coffee maker. I look and make sure when I buy products on Amazon that on the right hand side. under the add to cart button that is says Ships from Amazon, and sold by Amazon. I have not had any problems on Amazon, I have purchased several dozen coffee makers and they have all be Genuine products. Thanks for Watching and this is a valid concern that you have.

Mine is a little different. I saw it at Walmart and grabbed it up. I got this because mosquitoes were laying their larvae eggs in my Ninja coffee machine’s tank. The shape of my ninja’s tank doesn’t make it easy too pour the water out.

That looks like a really nice small coffee maker for an inexpensive price. I really love how the reusable cup pod is designed too and that you can easily use that or a K-cup. With either one just pop it in the machine! Easy, easy!
I have a couple questions regarding, descaling coffee machines. I have a Keurig K-Supreme and am wondering if the machine can be descaled before the lights indicate it’s time to clean it and does the machine automatically reset itself? Also, what if you don’t descale when the lights tell you? What will happen? Can you still use the machine? I would even enjoy a video on this topic perhaps in more detail if you want or have time. Thanks for you continued support!!! Great Questions. I would think if you put the machine into descale mode it would reset the descale light, but I am not %100 sure. The supreme will let you still use the machine for awhile after the descale light comes on, but I think after a while it will not let you brew coffee, again just not 100% sure on these. That is a good idea for a new video. My top 5 videos are all about the Keruig K Supreme coffee maker, it is a very popular coffee maker and that darn descale light is really causing a lot of people some work.

@@JustADad I have a K Supreme Plus, the one with the chrome-ish coverings. ONE YEAR of service, just two cups a day, two weeks ago it asked to be descaled. Pampered it the whole time; filters for the reservoir, kept it clean, made sure to always first press the K Cup into the needle to avoid distortion of the hinge area (they will distort there if you do not consistently press the K Cup into the lower needle(s)).
This week - one puff of smoke from the top cover area and it's dead. I have written Keurig TWICE - all I get from them are ads to my email box for their machines and K Cup discounts. Disgusted, I'm looking elsewhere - recommend you don't buy into Keurig folks.
This one looks reasonable for the price. Biggest question: Is there any K Cup machine that will last for years????

@@JustADad Yes, they absolutely did. If I ran Keurig you can bet your last cent I'd ensure our makers were the best. They'd sell on new features, not built-in failure modes.

So I enjoy a large cup of coffee. I have to ask if you brew a 12 oz is it on the weak side? As the the amount of grounds do not change. You do not have the option of adding more to make a stronger cup of coffee.
yes to me the coffee is week if you brew it on the 12oz setting.

Cuisinart is built a little better but the instant is a nice choice.

I like my Hamilton Beach flex brew much better than this. The reusable pod is much bigger so I can make a nice strong cup of coffee.

I just bought this machine the other day but something I noticed when I use the reusable filter I get sediment in my coffee. I’m using Starbucks Italian roast. Wondering if the coffee is too fine or what
This is common for reusable filters. they let a little sediment go by. its not bad for you but you do see it. K cups have paper filters in them and that is why you don't see it when you use a k cup.

I have that reusable purple perfect pod, but I can’t use it in my solo, which I just got from Amazon two days ago. My machine doesn’t close using the perfect pod. Any ideas why?
I need a coffee maker for my office. I bought this one on the 1st day of Prime Day sale and then on day 2 I bought the Keurig K-slim with multistream when I saw it for the same price. ($58 each) I have the k supreme plus that I use at home and I love it which is what spurred me to buy the kslim, however, I ended up reading a bunch of negative reviews regarding longevity after purchasing it which concerns me. I know instantpot makes a good product but this brewer hasnt been out long enough to know how it stands up. There are only two of us at the office that drink coffee. Which brewer would you keep? I figure you've got a fave between the two😁
I bought the kslim and didn't like it. The coffee is not hot enough and it doesn't get all the coffee grounds out the kcup.
Just got one as a gift. Was pretty excited … but it simply didn’t work. When I turn it on the lights on top just keep blinking. Can’t find anything online that references this issue. Any ideas?
My Solo passes a large amount of grounds with the coffee. Have you heard of a way to reduce the amount of grounds in the cup?

If you had to brew a single serve cup of coffee that was not a K-cup, which machine would you use?
This makes a good cup with its own reusable cup, but you can’t use anything else. Other reusables won’t let the lid close. Soft pod “EcoPods” don’t fit either. I’m really disappointed in that fact. Otherwise it’s a great machine, but I’m really annoyed by those limitations. Considering returning for the new Grind and Brew single serve.

Mine lasted for three months. I have tried all of the RUclips suggestions for making it work properly. I loved it until today! So disappointed!
2 spoons of coffee with 10oz of water makes tea, not coffee.
yeah 8oz is just right for me.
Thank you Lis - this is the problem with all of these single cup coffee makers. Many models have size selectors that allow you to make a 10 or 12 oz cup of coffee but they taste like coffee-flavored water. I have yet to see a video that shows how to make a decent larger SCA-style cup with a Keurig, Instant, Nespresso or any other brand.
$50 would be a much better price

Yet, my 6+ year-old Keurig 2.0 K250 just gave up the ghost (won't even get going on my reactions to the 2.0 fiasco) and this looks like a most viable, perhaps better, replacement for my mother-in-law who is the primary user. Looking at the Instant Solo or the Keurig K-Mini Plus for replacement. My wife has $30 in Kohl's cash she "needs" to use ... $70 and free shipping to store ... close enough to $60 for me. Your review was exceptionally well done!

This is NOT a great machine! The pod to put your own coffee in is crap! And other K pods don't work either. You have to hold the lid down or it pops up. So now i HAVE to buy coffee pods which are much more expensive...not happy.
I just bought this on Amazon. My Kerig I bought last year is basically unusable. Hoping for better luck with this brewer. Don't think I'll ever buy another Kerig.
