Please listen to the original version. Blackie cleaned this version up. Also anything off the KFD album, but especially The Horror.

One of the best songwriters in the metal universe right up with Tuomas Holopainen and James Morrison. I'd suggest many W,A,S,P, songs lol. Starting with Animal lololol then The Heretic, then Crimson Idol then Golgotha........As to Live shows they evolved over time from just a hair band to serious shock rock with albums like KFD (kill, fuck, die) to Crimson Idol to Headless Children so you should prepare yourself. This is not a one trick pony band. Blackie Lawless can really orchestrate emotions. With songs like Nuetron Ronnie, Headless Children, Forever Free.. . The last song I played at my fiance's and sons funeral. W,A,S,P, had stood for several things over the years. I went to my first show of theirs in 1984 and my last one was in 2010.

It’s a song about the recording industry. The most powerful and over looked lyric is “ tomorrow when I’m gone will they whore my image on “

There is a live version from Donnington (‘92’ thereabouts); and as another commenter said, listen to the original version with lyrics, this version was cleaned up for the video.

Another rabbithole, my friend... It started in the 80's and has spanned the years as said elsewhere, there were alot of transformations of the band, but lyrically and soundwise W.A.S.P. is a journey worth taking!

Blackie Lawless was asked what WASP meant - he was reputed to have said "We Ain't Sure Pal". The late Frankie Banali on drums with Stet Howland - 2 drummers!!!! The lyrics were made more PC from the original. It is a rock opera, telling the story of the rise and fall of a fictional rock star named Jonathan Steel. Chainsaw Charlie is the ruthless music exec. Jonathan was just 18 when he was "signed"...... There is a ballad too - "Hold On To My Heart".

I love W.A.S.P. and i can't understand why they did not get big in the U.S. . This song is part of a concept album which is well worth a listen. There are no weak songs at all in my opinion. Blackie Lawless is the founder of the band and only original member left. He's the singer , lyricist and composer of most (if not all )of the songs.
Live there's not a lot of foutage out there, but the songs from Donningdon in 1992 are fairly good quality. I suggest ''The great misconceptions of me'' which is from the same album.
Sleeping in the fire, into the fire, the idol, love machine, wild child, babylon's burning, hallowed ground, the last redemption, trail of tears, the raging storm (just to name a few awesome songs ).
