山羌 對 姜子寮應該是很多山羌出沒的地方 台語「羌」有點類似國語的「姜」，姜子寮地名應該是台語「羌仔寮」

所以應該是寫成羌子寮才對
You're right. '姜子' is the taiwanese saying of Formosan Reeves' Muntjac. It should be '羌仔'. The last character '寮' usually means shelter or some basic structure. There were hunters building shelters on this place before.

May I ask what is meaning of “百岳” refer by Taiwanese? Is it a challenge to conquer 100 mountain peaks? Thx
Yes. It literally means 100 peaks. There is a large Baiyue - 100 peaks 3000m and above, and 小百岳 or mini 100 peaks. There are lists online you can search.

I see you not bringing the hiking stick with you, aren’t you worrying about snakes or other animals?
I usually do take a stick as I use it when descending to prevent slipping, but I forgot it on this hike. You don't really need it for snakes and other animals as usually they flee as soon as they see humans.
