I used to have a cassette with Doolittle on one side & Bossanova on the other... In the early 90s I used to put it on reverse play & leave it going round for days until it broke & I had to make a new copy. GOD I LOVE THE PIXIES MUSIC!
Holy hell, Kim is gorgeous and to die for in this live rendition. Imagine having Kim Deal in your band then resent her and push her away because your ego can't take it that she's as talented as you. I love that Kim Deal despite being pigeonholed by Hipsters simps as their favourite manic pixie trope also refused to catter to that fantasy of playing up the cute alt-90's kitty by being salt of the earth and a grounded woman from Dayton, Ohio, warts and all.
I’m playing devil’s advocate here (I agree with your points and I love Kim), but around this time Charles and Kim basically stopped talking, and Kim would turn up late/not at all for her media stuff. I don’t think Charles was happy about her separating from the rest of the band in 1990 to go to do Pod. The rest of them flew to LA to prepare for Bossanova and Kim didn’t until a lot later on. It definitely put her out of step with the others especially Charles.
@@Bellocks1I agree (Two sides to every story indeed). I didn't mean to say that Kim was a pristine angel especially circa Bossanova/Trompe Le Monde. I think Kim's disengagement toward the end of Pixies first era was the product of this growing dissent festering beforend. At that point, she was already in mode "Fuck the Black Francis/Pixies, I'm gonna focused on my own band The Breeders". Breeders getting more successful than The Pixies in NA was the straw that broke the camel back.
@@deadstar44 Tbf I used to be heavily on Kim’s side, but when looking into it, Kim could be no Angel either - hence the gap between The Amps and then Title TK, Kim went through quite a lot of musicians, and developed a reputation as a bit of a taskmaster. Charles has a bit of a weird edge to him, a little bit passive aggressive, but quite non communicative over it. Watching the Pixies reunion documentary, it was clear that old wounds hadn’t healed, and after the original optimism of the whole thing they really still didn’t like each other. Then again, we only see what the cameras got.
@@Bellocks1 I agree, plus she just stopped being into it around this time which was still not that long after the band really got to their height. Can you imagine the songs we would have if she was more involved and "into it" for at least another three or four years? I'm with Charles, I would have absolutely been frustrated too.
damn,,,thats mean you shuold be fairly young,,,,please make some copies and share it with the kids that you like the most,,,,please stop listening to the crap its around now,,,at leat all they play now on mtv,,,cheers for bringing cool music back,,,
Why are you acting like it's a bad thing? That chorus is awesome. They only used the same intervals briefly at the tail of Hang Wire's chorus but in a different key.
Fucking hell. They were geniuses. The most influential band in American music since The Ramones.
talking heads? I see them as their heirs, either way they were geniuses
Since The Velvets!
@@amaro9085 And Hüsker Dü. Black Francis is a self-admitted fan of Bob Mould's band that he mentioned them in the ad to recruit Pixies band members.
yes, husker du was an admitted inspiration I know
This the best version of Hang Wire that I've heard. Just incredible.
This is the most underrated song "The day is like a warm night salt rusts that cold line"
I would love to hear your interpretation of that line

Joey's on fire in this one.
What a Legend! Soul touching, comfort feeling music with out the Pixies, there will be no nirvana, no breeders, no radio heads, etc....
what an amazing riff, and crunchiness to this song
That last "Hang Wire!" from Kim always gets me.
INCREDIBLE performance! How am I the first to comment on this? I wish Pixies played this song live more. Bossanova deserves a lot more love.
This song is everything
The best group in the World!
Still my all-time favorite song of theirs, and the most badass! I'd die if they ever played it live again...
EVERY MOMENT OF EVERY DAY, I BOSSANOVA WIT CHA!
Sounds so good for being so old. One of my favorite bands!
nice pfp
So THIS is the concert that my bootleg CD comes from!
I bought a "Kiss the Stone" bootleg years ago, and this is exactly the same audio.
remember the good times!
This should have WAY more views.
So much love for the Pixies and this song
They were amazing live!
great song!
great version!

Dammit! Soo good!
Pixies hell off a gig in Chicago......i missed........
This is so good!!! (said many times, but i had to write it anyway).
This sounds EXACTLY like the version on Death to the Pixies.
lol Because it is the same one. From Utrecht, the Netherlands

I was there. Kid with black mohawk, right at the front.
JUST F*CKING GREAT
Fuck that good stuff!
joey santiago for sainthood.
There's a slight similarity but I don't think it detracts from the song at all, they both have completely different rhythms.
@plaguehater13 oh my bad. Stupid iPod didn't display the other comments. At least I'm not the only one loving this video!
oh its about mountain climbing , so much for my twin peaks theory hahahahaha. the day is like a cold night , nothing about demons lol.
Anyone know where this was filmed? Looks a lot like the show I saw at the Latin Quarter in Detroit. Great song, amazing performance. Great live show.
Good lord
@plaguehater13 oh whoops. Stupid iPod didn't see the other comments. My bad. Glad I'm not the only one liking this.
it seems like the sound is not from this video
Ouch! I'll BossaNova with ya!
i would like to know what is the meaning of bossanova on this song
0 people hate his song
Pixies took Kurt away to Nirvana!
Where is this at?
Pixies are sexy.
That MAN is a liar .....!!!!
the chorus music sounds too much like Wave of Mutilation
Why are you acting like it's a bad thing? That chorus is awesome. They only used the same intervals briefly at the tail of Hang Wire's chorus but in a different key.
It's about Ang Wa, the famous Chinese Kung Fu school.
hang the dj ;)
