My very favourite part of any restoration video is the creation of new parts to replace damaged/missing originals. This video had lots of that! I also enjoyed the removal of the old repairs -- that welding was really bad. Lastly, I liked the relaxing background music. Consider me a new subscriber!
I appreciate you and I appreciate your feedback. Thank you for checking out the video and for subscribing, there should be plenty more coming soon. Fabricating is probably my favorite part as well, the next video I'm working on is a Nylint roadster and I'm going pretty radical with it, I'm trying to make it look like a realistic model instead of keeping it a faithful restoration, so there is a ton of fabrication work. I especially appreciate the kind words about the music, I'm new to keyboard so it's a little bit out of my comfort zone to post it, but I'm glad it was well received by at least one person. :) I'm planning some guitar in the next video, we'll see how that goes. Also those old welds were way worse than they looked, I had to cut out so much footage of trying to grind it out of all the little nooks.
You do not know how bad I want to make parts for you out of steel on my machine. I think it is so cool to see a old toy saved and brought back to life. Good work. 😃😃😃😃😃😃
Thank you for your kind words :) I tried to include everything for this build because every piece really needed to be treated like it's own little restoration. Thanks for subscribing hopefully you enjoy the next video even more :)
Segmenting the time line into progressive chapters, listing the tools and where to get them, "Channel-Locking" your inner parrot, and some fine detail work makes your channel a go-to.
@@Toystorations I don't know, it has twin wooden white wheels on each side of the back landing gear... so it makes sense the front would be the same. It is just as I found it 30 years ago in a attic of an old victorian down the street about to be knocked down, I grabbed all the fancy brass doorknobs as well :D
Beautiful job. TRG sent me over. Love the parrot pliers. The musics reminds me of the harp in Harry Potter and theSorcerer’s stone that was used to keep the 3 headed dog asleep.
Thanks for the kind words, TRG is awesome. I try to make soothing music for the videos, and I'm glad to have you here. I've got a new video almost ready, it should be pretty radical. Feel free to stick around, I've got a lot planned.
A friend of yours send me here and i have to say: Nice work :) The result really looks nice. But I am not a big fan of the background music tho, I think the tool noise is enough :)
In my first video, there was not a lot of sound from the tools and the only feedback I ever got was that it needed music, so here we are. I'm not the best musician though, so maybe it just needs GOOD music instead of me pretending I can play the keyboard. I appreciate your honest feedback, and I'm glad you enjoy the restoration. :) Thank you.
Awesome restoration and a beautiful result. congrats to your flurrhead supervisor and plierbird. I'm ver sorry that he lost one eye in the restoration process...
Mikey the microphone remains unharmed in spite of doing his own stunts, but Polly the pliers has sustained serious eye damage. We're looking into eye surgery in the future, but for the meantime she's happy being patched up. Thanks for the kind words, I hope you enjoyed the video.
It's a Martin M-130, which came out much earlier than the Hughes H-4, and was much smaller. Hughes definitely borrowed some design ideas from it though.
Great work ! ... thank you ... could you please explain what was it you sprayed on at the begining at what was it for ? Some kind of freezing liquid ?... Im a big fan of restoration channels and have not seen that before.
It was just compressed air. If you turn a can of air upside down, adiabatic cooling causes the air to freeze. The temperature change helps loosen up the dirt and grime so I could find the original paint to know what color to repaint it. Nothing fancy or necessary. Don't spray it on your hands, you'll get frostbite. Don't breathe it in either. Also maybe just don't do it. It wasn't the smartest idea. Thanks for watching. :)
@@jorgesosa8917 Glad to have you here :) Thank you for watching and I'm glad you enjoyed it. Next video is in the works but it's going to be pretty radical, I'm working on doing more than just a restoration, so hopefully you enjoy it once it's released.
Nice job on the restoration! I know im a bit late on this video but make sure you're careful with any toys based on planes of this time period as many have bent wings on purpose.
Good to know, thanks! The real Clipper has wings pointed up but all of the original toys I could find pictures of had it dead straight, so I decided to straighten it.
El torno es en realidad una pieza china sin marca de Amazon, puede comprarlos por alrededor de $ 40 USD, podría ser más barato que construir uno a menos que tenga las piezas :)
I honestly have no idea, I think it melted. Someone decades ago had welded the wings on and repainted it with some very thick paint. Perhaps it was just in the sun too long?
Ok my girlfriend just told me. Your pliers has eyes on it. Duhhhh me. Alot of your toy's that you restored. I had some of them as kid. Thank you for sharing your videos with us.
Her name is Polly. I'm glad you two got to enjoy this video together, that's my favorite thing, knowing people are using the videos to share moments with the people in their lives. I really appreciate your comment.
I appreciate you enjoying this :) I don't think I could let it go yet though, it was my first restoration for the channel and in the future, I think I might regret selling it. Plus the primer didn't stick well, so the paint is pretty delicate. I'm really glad you enjoyed it though, thanks for stopping by and checking out the channel!
If you mean the vertical stabilizer (tail), it goes to the top of the propeller and was stenciled from the original part. If you mean the horizontal stabilizer (rear wing), it extends out to the center of the outermost nacelle (engine cowling) and was also stenciled from the original part. This is accurate to both the original Wyandotte design and the original 1935 Martin M-130 blueprints. Thanks for watching.
@Paul Simonson Yes, but there are two pieces that could be called that and it's important to reference which one is being discussed if we're discussing faithful restorations. Both are to spec.
That wasn't a restoration. That was a resurrection. That toy was abused every conceivable way. At first, it looked like one of those fake restoration videos where they smear mud all over it. But then I looked closer and realized it was paint. Then I looked in the video description. And sure enough, some fool repainted it and did a horrible job. And that's just the beginning of things. I could have done a better job than that last guy who had it, and I've never restored a toy in my life.
I am sure the airplane was nicely but I stopped watching before the half way mark. The music just was not my cup of tea. Sure I could have muted the sound but chose not to. I will watch for another video as I feel this person cam command my attention and admiration.
I'm sure there are people who would say it's stupid to put such loving care and work into such a simple worthless thing and that is why I do everything I can to avoid all such people

The NTSB should be able to give us the definitive cause of the plane crash rather quickly. After all, it was a small accident.
Crash analysis points towards it having made contact with a human foot about 70 years ago.
A pleasure to watch. Great restoration job.

Good work. Primer to fill the pitting and then wet sand. Your paint job would have come out 100 times better.
Can't wet sand the water base airbrush acrylic, but I agree, the paint is far from perfect and needs to be improved for future videos.
