Good advice at the end of the interview about not to copy other people's music. I have been saying all along the same thing since the early 80's. We Hmong are the master of copying other people's work not just music but just about anything in life. When it comes to original, we are way behind other cultures. I want to see that one day we can turn the music to suit our culture and have a unique sound that no other cultures have it before.... Especially Zha Moua whom I believe is the most well known guitarist or just the name music in the Hmong community need to take the lead on this Hmong unique and orginal sound. As for now most or almost all Hmong sound-good songs are copied from other cultures' music. We should somehow feel embarrassed to put them on youtube for the world to hear. I don't know if it's good or bad that some of them get so many views and many good comments. Should the credit or monetary value go to the original. Our Hmong singers have the guts to tour around the country and called ourselves super stars. Seems like copying is in our blood...hahaha.
Yes...I agreed. Hmong people always love copying someone else's songs. You can hear ton songs in RUclips. If someone releases a NEW song that someone else really likes...then next year...it's added into their own album. Lol. The worst part is, there's NO real COPYRIGHT. There's no control in Hmong communities. If someone likes something, it's now theirs. Well, I have to say though...there's not a lot problem in America; it's usually from Lao/Thailand Hmong people. They can quickly infringe your work and suddenly widespread. At the end of the day, you won't even know who's the real Artist. To me, if someone really like my work, they should contact me OR at least, credit my work. There's a word called, "Covered by." Lol. I'm guessing Lao/Thai Hmong people don't know the difference. For "Zha..." He's the icon for Hmong "Rock N Roll" in the 80s. There's no doubt about that. A few years ago, I watched him playing and demoing, and I saw that his guitar skills is very limited or under. I noticed, he's just a little better than an average Hmong guitar player, but nothing significant that I need to remembered. Lol. What I understand and hear about his current skills, I will not put him into that category - "taking the lead” to Hmong people though. He was great in the 80s when most Hmong guitarists can't play, but today...he's a little "under-skilled." He is old my friend - both age by years & music, itself. It’s like, having Jimmy Page (Led Zeppelin) to lead current rock/metal music in 2000s era. Lol. If you want to see real skills, who can lead Hmong music, then think of - "Sounders" or "Hands Band" (from Thailand). These bands can REALLY write and compose their own entire music albums. I'm not even a fan of both bands, but it's the truth; they are good. The older guys are good for us to remember how it "WAS." Not now. So, no, I will not ask Zha to LEAD Hmong music. He's definitely a part of Hmong's rock history for sure though. I hope someone can documented. This is my 2 cents.
😂 no one dare to speak up, i was not sure if we should include this last part of the interview but we did and actually glad we did and you are absolutely right 👍😂
The interview could’ve been better….anyways…What happened to Mos Hlub II album?. He didn’t speak much of that. I guess he didn’t want to speak much of it. The album was good. Mostly bite. But still give him credit.
I heard 2 or 3 songs from a source for "Moshlub 2" some years ago in the mid-late 90s. Lol. I don't believe they ever completed. It was abandoned some years ago. I heard from a good source, BUT, it's not my story to tell. If Zha wants to talk about it, it's his choice.
Basically Zha is saying Deeg 1st album sucks! Haha. That’s the truth. Aleng destroyed Deeg’s first album. 😂😂😂 deeg’s 2nd album is probably the best Hmong Metal album of all time.
😂not exactly but I’m guaranteed it won’t sounds as metal with multiple guitars doing harmonized for sure Plus I feel like I deserve much more credits than it was, bc I did all the recording n spent half of my life on this album, and if you don’t believe me just go listen to their latest CD 👍😂
