I recently found out that this wasn't an original Cheetah Girls song...my entire childhood is a lie.
Little Black Star I honestly thought that this was the original hahah but apparently the group i5 is the original singers.
Play is not the original artist either, I think.

For me it’s kinda like hearing Whitney Houston sing “I Will Always Love You” your whole life only to find out it’s really Dolly Parton’s song, and Dolly’s version isn’t bad at all. It’s actually really really good, but it will always be Whitney you hear and think of when the song is mentioned.
Maiya Mills I love dolly’s and Whitney’s IWALY. Both versions sound sooo good and both kinda serve a different purpose. Whitney is very strong and powerful. While dolly’s is like soft and vulnerable.

This song actually was originally recorded by i5 in 2000. Then that group’s label folded and Play recorded it in 2001. Then SHE (from Taiwan) covered it in early 2003 before the Cheetah Girls did it in late 2003. And yes, I think Solange was gonna be a part of the CG but she decided to pursue a solo career and had the support of her dad and sister (Beyoncé), eventually achieving success in the 2006-2007 era with her jazz/pop/funk album and songwriting a bit.
