I'm obsessed with Millie! There's just a vibe she has that is so infectious and warm and welcoming and approachable. Please keep bringing her back, I love the recipes she shares.
@@milliepeartree6689 Oh my goodness! I can't believe you saw this. Honestly, I've become such a HUGE fan of your recipes. I'm normally used to cooking oxtail like we do here in South Africa. It's not spicy, just it's just the seasoned seared oxtail, garlic, onions, green bell peppers, grated tomatoes and we slow cook everything in beef broth (usually from the stock cube with a dash of Worstershire sauce). Then we carrots, green beans and potatoes and serve with this samp and beans rather than the rice and beans you had. I'll definitely adding your recipe to my list (it's winter this side so this recipe came at the perfect time). Thank you so much for sharing. ❤️❤️❤️
@@milliepeartree6689 Hi Millie... I had a best Friend in High Named Millie 🥰..I'm allergic to coconut... Is there another rice you could recommend for me to try ...That coconut rice sounds absolutely delicious 😋...
Oh nah y'all gotta let Chef Millie show us the entire damn recipe, plantains and all, give her a full length video and let her really throw all the way down 🙌🏽
This is the first time I've watch a video with this chef - boy have I missed out! Great instruction, mouthwatering food. Looking forward to seeing more videos from Millie!
I laughed at the "unveiling," as in any home where this meal is seen as the gold standard, this is the moment. As a second-generation child of Jamaican parents, you took on a mammoth task. Oxtail is not to be toyed with. I must say you nailed it on the ingredient deck. Awesome work, Chef.
This is a GREAT recipe. I discovered it several weeks ago while doing an NYT Cooking search for oxtails. The dish was a huge hit and also reheated beautifully the second time around for leftovers.
From that intro alone, I knew it was gonna be amazing! I loooooove Millie; her vibe and her wit! She made that look like something I could surely accomplish. More Millie Peartree, please!
She’s literally became an instant favorite. There’s just something so inviting and infections about her!!! Plus that’s how I was taught to make oxtail from my Caribbean born great grandmother.
I’m West Indian (not Jamaican), and I attempted to make oxtail only once before and I’m generally not a fan of it. However, your video made me seriously hangry and I made your recipe yesterday…you’re wonderful and it was sooo delicious! Thanks Millie!
Just made this tonight! It was amazing! The only thing I did different was instead of cooking it in a Dutch oven for 2-3 hours I put it in my Instapot for 45 mins. Then added the beans after that. Paired it with jollof rice and peas!
Cooking this oxtail now . . .having fun and really loving Millies's beautiful personality. Millie you are fantastic. Thank you for your amazing oxtail video.
I wasn't gonna watch it all the way through until I felt her vibe n I fell in love with her personality n how she delivers so im truly a fan for life now lol
🙏👍 💜 Thank you and God Bless Always. I love your breakdown of a delicious dish. I like oxtail very much. But I've never made them myself, always restaurant made. Your video helped me save $$, and create soulfully scrumptious food at home. Peace and Godspeed Always
I always wondered why so many people cooked onions and garlic together. That always confused me, because garlic doesn't take long to cook, brown or burn. I started thinking it was me, so I am really glad you commented on that trend. Its mainly RUclipsrs that do this so I'm not even sure why I gave it so much credit.
My first time seeing a video with Chef Millie, but I already knew she was the truth because her banana pudding recipe replaced my Mama's years ago! Those oxtail look magnificent!! *chef's kiss*
I was a little confused at the curry and sweet onions. onions can be just regular white or yellow 🧅. curry isn't traditional but I'm sure there's probably a Jamaican somewhere adding a bit for extra flavour. ❤ great recipe
Ox Tails are so expensive. I remember when I was a kid, my grandmother told me that Ox Tails were what poor people would eat. It was all they could afford. How times has changed.
Thank you very much for this video recipe. Looks DELICIOUS! QUESTION: The Browning Seasoning ---> would Kitchen Bouquet be the same as the Gravy Master that you used? Also, where would I find Jamaican Curry Powder? Thank you in advance for your answer.
You can find Jamaican Curry Powder (Jamaican Jerk Marinades, other spices, and drinks) anywhere at your local big chain grocery store, shopRite, Shop and stop, your local bodega, online at Amazon, and you can also get it hot or mild. Just go to your "ethnic" food section where they have all the Caribbean stuff, the Goya, the Asian stuff. Of course, it's an insult to put it there but these places lack serious imagination.
As a Jamaican we dont add curry to oxtail so you can omit that....if you cant find browning...as she said in the video you can "burn" the sugar and add water. But be careful because there is a fine line between it being bitter.
I also suggest looking for Grace products....you can use their browning. It's a jamaican brand that's popular here in Jamaica. I'm not in the states but when I've visited my family they always get it from the african or asian stores. Very expensive in the states in comparison to here.

We as Caribbean people don't cook oxtail like this...but it does look good
I was thinking the same thing x looks good as you said but not authentic ja oxtail. Maybe more ja/caribbean inspired
That's why it is says "inspired". She's Black American and we typically cook oxtails like this.
if you know so much why you watching a video on it...who is "we"
We don't care southerners have our way of making great oxtails
You speak for all Caribbean people, huh? 😂
