I can see not enough people know how this addon works. Allow me to explain. It is a mod, but it was only possible with a plugin, it can be (with a bit of tweaking) used for other games and already has been, for example rocket league, sonic generations, blender and minecraft. the way it works is that mario 64 is running in the background so that the mario physics and gameplay functions work, but the actual character is invisible but the hitbox is still there, so that mario actually can be hit for example. with the plugin mario can pretty easily be put into any game, though some fixes might be needed at some times, for example in sonic generations for the rails to work, mario has to be disabled and sonic's control is taken over again so that "mario" can grind on rails. TD;LR: Basicilly this addon use libsm64 which contains original SM64 assets and ported into GMod. So yeah, it's not a recreation and that's also explain why you need a Mario 64 ROM (in z64 file format) to get this addon working.
I have to ask - what the actual hell is this? A way to shove Mario 64 into other games? Are sources available to this? I absolutely need to put this in one game... EDIT: nevermind, I looked it up, it's using OpenGL which won't work for what I need (it's actually a lot more complex than just that to bind it)

Honestly, there's something oddly satisfying about seeing Mario in Half Life, in a similar way the Sonic Movie happened. Like seeing a cartoon character in a realistic setting almost makes them seem like a genetically engineered super soldier who combats whatever threat they come across in an exaggerated, zany way. A cartoon punch, as harmless as they may seem, can probably kill very easily in the real world. And also seeing Mario take a bullet (just one. I don't know how many he can survive back to back) in the same way he takes damage from his respective game makes him seem really hard to put down. It's kind of it's own flavor of badass, you know?
Mario is an interesting man. If you fire a bullet directly into his brain he'll just take damage or lose a powerup, yet he also dies if he walks into a turtle's butt a few times.
Remember, if Nintendo copyright claims this, that means it's canon! ...Also I wonder how hard it would be to implement SM64 physics into the Source Engine... considering the game code's been torn to shreds to the point that it's fully understood how collision, movement, and all that other jazz works.

I'd think even the advisors would be shitting their nonexistent pants at this point. G-Man employed one very dangerous man.
I would recommend making Mario's height similar to Mario Odyssey in comparison to normal humans. It would make platforming a little trickier and more fun.
Mario Mario, in the flesh. Or, rather, in the metal cap. I took the liberty of relieving you of your power stars, most of them were Mushroom Kingdom property.
