The Two Ronnies are legendary in the UK and their wordplay is the best. The shopkeeper, in this sketch, is Harry Enfield who is also a very well known UK comedian who had several series with people like Paul Whitehouse and Kathy Burke. A series of sketches you might want to look at is Kevin and Perry (Harry Enfield is Kevin and Kathy Burke is Perry) and the sketches trace the change in Kevin’s personality when he becomes a teenager, so it’s important to start with the first sketch showing him turning 13. Enjoying your reactions and your understanding of British humour.
It's a dream come true to see these two working together on a sketch like that. I've been a fan of Harry Enfield for years and have seen him live. Then of course Ronnie is an icon of British comedy. It's so cleverly done and not offensive. But a sketch anyone will understand.
The One Ronnie was a one-off sketch show celebrating the work of Ronnie Corbett, with a lot of UK comedy stars playing the other role, in the parts that would have normally been played in The Two Ronnies by Ronnie Barker, who by then had passed away. RC has also sadly now left us.
One Ronnie retired and then sadly died but This Ronnie did a few appearances and now he too has passed. These Two Ronnies one Corbett and one Barker were an institution for most of my life.
Ronnie Barker, the bigger of the two Ronnies passed away in 2005. This was a sketch in a special called the one ronnie, in which Ronnie Corbett did a series of sketches with several well known comedians in the style of The Two Ronnies, including Rob Brydon, Harry Enfield, Catherine Tate, Miranda Hart, James Corden, Matt Lucas, David Walliams, etc
The Two Ronnies, Ronnie Barker and Ronnie Corbett, came together from their time working on David Frost's programme, "That Was The Week That Was" often shortened to TW3. TW3 was a satirical show based on the news stories of the past week. This show had an ensemble cast some of whom went on to be members of "Money Python's Flying Circus" others became character actors and others did bit parts and faded into obscurity. Ronnie Barker submitted scripts to TW3 under the pseudonym Gerald Wiley, quite a few of Gerald Wiley's sketches were performed on TW3. When TW3 finished Barker & Corbett were performing at the same theatre where they became firm friends and started performing together. The Two Ronnies TV show ran for many years until Ronnie Barker decided to retire in 1987, he died in 2005 of heart failure. Little Ronnie, Ronnie Corbett, continued to perform until shortly before his death in 2016. The blackberry sketch, with Harry Enfield was on of a number of his collaborations after the retirement of Ronnie Barker.
This was The One Ronnie. A one off special. Ronnie Barker had died a few years before,in 2005. Sadly, little Ronnie Corbett,here,..died shortly after this,in 2016. At least they are back together again up there
This was a Homage to the Famous TWO Ronnie's Hardware shop sketch, after the late Ronnie Barker past away! The brilliant Character Comedian stepping in is Harry Enfield!! Who became the Top TV comedian in the 1990s UK! He was a huge fan of the TWO Ronnies, so he wrote an updated version of the Two Ronnies Sketch in honour of Ronnie Barker!🙏
the one ronnie was made after the death of ronnie barker about twelve or eighteen months later. ronnie corbett was payig his repects to his lat friend in a way only he new,to make people rember his friend and partner in comedy,in other words to make people laugh and enjoy the gaga and skits, they were bothe masters of comedy, and they will sadly be missed,by all, thnk you so much for showing them, wayne lawes sydney nsw australia.
Also Harry Enfield has the Arsenal football team of 1933 vs Liverpool football team of 1991. Hoping you'll understand it. The difference with the way sports were and are played. Very funny.
It was a celebration of Ronnie Corbett being in the industry for 50 years. By this time Ronnie Barker had died so the BBC did a celebration show with some of the comedians that have been influenced by him. When I saw this at the time I said it was a.classic and would be shown again and again just like.the "Fork Handles" sketch. I was right.😅
You should check out the 'Hi-fi Shop' sketch from Not the nine o'clock news, a topical sketch-show from the late 70's on BBC TV. This is the show that launched Rowan Atkinson, who found international fame later, as Mr Bean!!
Saw Ronnie Corbet live performance years ago. He talked about him painting in the house and could only go as high as the ladder reached, so the skirting boards are done.
I think it has already been mentioned, but this is a tribute sketch to one of the most famous British comedy sketches 'Four Candles' which was done by 'The Two Ronnies' (Ronnie Corbett and Ronnie Barker) and written by Ronnie Barker under is pseudonym of Gerald Wiley. If you haven't seen that it is well worth a look. Harry Enfield did a few 'Public Information Films', a parody of 1930's and 40's public information films and one that is well worth looking at is 'Women know your place' very funny.
I think the earliest you can find the two Ronnies and a John Cleese is Tw3.(That was the week that was) Ronnie Corbett had a part in the early Casino Royale with David Niven and Woody Allen as James Bond. The film has some great moments to it with a trippy slow mo sequence with Ursula Andress. The film was made as a comedy as it could never be shown at that time otherwise (so it is said). The sketch on tw3 was something like the class system explained, although they did a couple of other sketches with the same format.1966
Ronnie Corbett was one of Britain's best-loved comedians and - partnered with a fellow Ronnie (actor and comedian Ronnie Barker) - had one of the biggest comedy shows in the UK for nearly 20 years. This is a successful attempt to recreate the dynamic he had with his former on-screen partner and makes a lot of Brits wish he'd carried on.
Great reaction guys 👍I believe( not 100%) that this was a one Ronnie one off,Harry Enfield who was the shopkeeper in this one had very popular sketch shows himself and they are superb comedy. Nice one✌️
You have to do Harry Enfield women know your place…Harry is playing the shop keeper in the skit you just watched . Oh and do his homophobic dad skit. British classics
the two ronnies were ronnie barker and ronnie corbett, this one was ronnie corbett and harry enfield. ronnie barker died, the 2 ronnies had their own show for years. ronnie corbett has died since he did this video as well
It's so funny to imagine Ronnie Colbert and Sandi Toksvig out golfing, back when he was alive. According to Ronnie they looked like a pair of salt and pepper shakers.
Lots to check for British Humour. Only Fools and Horses. The Chandelier, Trigger's broom. Monty Python's life of Brain - Biggus Dickus, The stoning, What did the Romans do for us Fawlty Towers I know nothing
