    To all the haters:
    1. The costume and setting has nothing to do with ISLAM. This is a Jewish costume, and the stage is set in a Jewish synagogue. Judaism and Islam, for your information, are literally enemies. If this was a gig to appease muslims, choosing a Jew outfit is the least sensible thing to do that.
    2. Please stop asking "why only Hindus are secular". We all know the answer- because Hinduism is a beautiful way of life. It embraces the good in everything and gives people freedom to think. Hindus see every religion a way to attain spiritual height. Hinduism don't teach hate as much as other religions do ( Please don't confuse Hinduthwa with Hinduism, Hinduthwa is a politically motivated, hate filled, fascist ideology)
    3. Ananthabhairavi is a ragam. A ragam could be used to sing various songs. Even if I sing only "ta raa raa raa ta raa raa raa" for 17 minutes in this tone, that is still ananthabhairavi. Listen to the music first, then to the lyrics.
    4. Music has always been innovative. Indian music, being the essence of various cultures, have always been innovative. This is also a humble attempt at that.
    5. Releasing this video on Christmas eve sends a message. Embrace the music of every religion. Spread love, not hate😘

I browsed most of the comments here and from what I gather, more than 90% of the people who have commented have a one track mind - that is their hatred towards Islam.
Mr. TMK's performance here is not in a MOSQUE, but in a Jewish Synagogue, a totally different religion. So, I suggest you get your heads out of wherever it is stuck and appreciate TMK in his effort to bring religions together for better understanding of each other for peace and harmony. If triggered in a certain way everyone will turn violent! What this man have done? He just sang a Jewish song in a synagogue. What is the problem in that? I am a brahmin but studied in a Christian school and since I sang well, I sang the prayer for 10 years! Will I be sent to yamalog? And my music teacher is a Christian and she holds a PhD in music. Everyday she sings on ganeaha, Krishna, Rama and what not! Will she be sent to the hell? These are the same group of people who invites yesudas to sing in their temple for margazhi! At that time no god comes in the way! What logic is this?

Aha! This shows your absolute ignorance. It's not a Jewish song at all. It's a song in Arabic language asking for the god to bless the jihadis of Battle of Badr!! Singing a song with cruel intent(citing the mindset of asking peace for jihadis) in a soothing raga doesn't make a religion peaceful !!!

Just the way you tie a turban or kerchief when going to gurudwara he tied it. 2. South Indian Classical is a type of a singing. You have songs on nature, on India, on various god, on well being, even secularism in that case I didn't find a reason why you are against a rendition on another god? 3. In the translation I read warrior and not jihadis.. the line read "bring peace upon the blessed soul of the warriors who fought at badr" I am not an expert in literature but from what I read that is the first battle fought by Mohammed and I didn't find anything wrong in this since ever god/demi god/ messanger has fought atleast a war(I might be wrong, if you have an exact and neutral translation kindly share with me) 4. Arun Kumar , 1. Wearing a Jewish cap, singing a song on Islamic god in a Carnatic raga? What is the point he is trying to make?
      2. Carnatic music is not just a system of music. It is the whole bunch of spiritual values linked with music. When you sing a song like this, Carnatic audience (well, atleast me) can't just associate with it.
      3. Those warriors of Badr that the song is talking about are the people who attacked the Quraish community to expand the Islamic state. That's why I used the word "Jihadi".
      4. So you're telling that one can be excused of any mispronounciations of sAhitya citing that he is from different geographical region? Amazing rendition by TMK . He is truly an epoch maker. The butt-hurt Nazis and fanatic in this comment thread haven’t really understood the meaning of music. Music is all about destroying boundaries. If K J Yesudas can sing about Krishna, then TM Krishna can sing about Yesu. The art grows only when it spreads to the world. Culture is about dissolving barriers. The violin itself was appropriated/adapted for Carnatic music from the Christendom where it was used in the church and orchestras. Lots of love to everyone.

long back a gentle man had the audacity to bring in western instrument (violin) into the carnatic fold. many purists complained on both sides. Many western practitioners even cringe at the way violin is held in carnatic performance. does it matter? today it has become an integral part. historically, both carnatic and hindustani have common root as far as I know, ..eventually deviating in development path due to cultural influences from different regions. carnatic is still largely if not completely limited to bhakti only and that too only that of vedic community. Hindustani covers a more diverse range of subjects I think. I personally always wished to bring carnatic music to wider world just like what happenned to pretty much all music/knowledge in human history. its art! painting techniques developed to paint christian religious subjects in the west have been adapted for all kinds of purposes today including for vedic religious art. no one complains. no one should. similarly, if TMK is using his immense understanding and popularity in this field to bring the art to more, it is great. isnt it? I wish more kritis are written in more languages instead of every one just learning the old ones. Many of the popular ones are not even the mother tongue of practitioners making it extra difficult to memorize and connect to the lyrics. the old ones were also new in their times...written by TMKs of their era, adding more to the field. Let the flow continue. these arts belong to human kind...the whole of it.... founders are mere temporary custodians. just my thought.

That means the basic set of notes (swaras) is already there. What this guy did is to fit it into the framework of a raaga and also performed it in south indian style. If we start thinking that a style is a religion... then nothing more to say. There we can agree to disagree and live peacefully. His dress, cap etc has to do with what he has to say to the soceity. Perhaps he means "it doesn't matter ". Well, he is an atheist, so that fits well. Besides, when south indians absorbed violin into carnatic music, your european cousin would have asked "let them play hallelujah in madurai meenakshi temple". Just a simple tikka or cap. This .is not tit for tat but just a simple gesture that shows appreciation. Anyone can think of a muslim artist who will do that ? Anyone ? They have great muslim musicians all over the world. Anyone ? Truth is its not needed. Why engage in such shallow symbolism. Skull cap is for islam and is abrahamic tradition to show seperation of believer from abrahamic good (yahweh or allah). You can wear hindu symbols and sing arabic songs.
Do these tricks really work Mr TM Krishna. Truth is this is about your own ego and don't think muslims are moved by this or swooning over such stupid optics. What does it even mean ? You are not a muslim so you are not required to wear that skull cap. You can sing arabic songs anyway you want. Why this stupid bending over to show off.. its purely 'look at me how liberal and large minded I am' vanity. Its not for muslims but just to provoke your own community and you want this discussion. Its just as bad if not more than the moronic saffron sanghis. For a artist to focus on this in itself shows you are not really about carnatic music or its bhavas. You want use it for your own vanity. Ugliness .
In the end I will shamelessly also admit that the rendering is just amazing and it moved me very much. As a Hindu I surrender to the divinity in his performance and he is a great artist indeed though I disagree with his antics and showoffs.

Completely agree with u 'charity begins at home' and v have been doing it for long and will keep doing it forever. By default, our culture, whatever you call it as Hinduism or Indian culture etc. is secular in nature. Hindus by default r Secular and nobody can take it away. Periodically great leaders like Guru Nanak and Shivaji come and steady our country’s secular path. Currently a democratically elected government is trying to steady the nation in its secular path/values. The CAA is trying to correct the mistakes done by leaders while dividing county. Pakistan and later Bangladesh promised to treat its minorities well, but they not only failed, went on to constitutionally discriminated minorities. Do you know it took close to 60 years for Pakistan government to pass Hindu Marriage Act? See what is happening to Dinesh Kaneria, most successful spin bowler in Pakistan history and how he is being treated. What I am saying is that thought leader like TM Krishna should come out openly talk about the negatives of other side. Please understand Muslims don't believe in nations as we know now. They believe in Ummah. So, whether you like it or not these topics will go beyond out boundaries. Also understand any other individual (outside of the five-religion mentioned in CAA) can still apply for asylum in the open quota. They won't come under the CAA collective bargaining. The height of hypocrisy in the Islamic world is that Nobel laureate Malala openly twit about the plight of Rohingyas, however yet to say single word about how badly minorities are being ill-treated in her own country. I assume you listen to person like Fateh Tariq and Asif Aajakia. Do you know UN issued a statement stating that ill-treated Christians of Iraq should be provided asylum by other countries and some EU countries had immigration clauses to provide citizenship to such impacted Christians - none of the so-called liberals criticized such actions stating they discriminated other religions. Also do you know, if any Cuban will be provided citizenship in USA if they simply managed to land in US soil - it does not matter how they come into USA. That law won’t apply to other countries ruled by dictators - no body criticized US for that. I HAVE FULL CONFIDENCE THAT INDIA WILL REMAIN A TRUE SECULAR COUNTRY FOR EVER.

frankly to me your Indian culture sucks and stinks. I am no politician. India is perhaps the only country which does not value life. when a person is being lynched the world at large moves on like nothing happened. when there is an accident nobody wants to stick their head to take the injured to the hospital. question is why are we all not passionate in setting right rules like that. TMK is at least trying in his own small way to bridge the chasms. *you talk so much about CAA and the affirmative policy and how they are linked.* should we not link mankind first and remember thats what TMK is doing here by singing an Arabic song in a carnatic genre. you may not like the rendition and that's fine. criticize the way it was sung. nobody has an issue but pointing fingers at him because his view does not resonate with yours and the using that to criticize his core competence is a sign of a sick and a depraved mind set.
now you are asking me for my views on the CAA and NPR. my answer is it's none of your business. issues like these dont interest me. to be very honest I dont care as this is not my area of core competence. I am more passionate about other laws like the laws on real freedom, laws prohibiting superstition, development of a scientific temper etc. TMK has a diametrically opposite view to that of the government . it's his view. so what? this is a legislation which can be stretched to any length. his contrarian argument is it must stretch further but you are saying that the stretch is adequate. the current CAA is saying Tom and Dick are enough. many are asking what about Harry? Why only 3 nations, why not all the countries from the earth whereas the current law has limited folks to 3 countries? again, this is purely a matter of principle and how far can the country stretch. DO you really think there is an answer for this. I can show many such laws in the current statute book which can be stretched like this and many are pending before the SC for ages now.
what has his view got to to do with his music? what has it got to do with the way he is using his artistic talent? so what if he sings an Arabic song in the Carnatic raaga? so what if he is an athiest like me? please note I am supporting his artistic pursuit and his artistic views and not necessarily all that he thinks.

That is the same regardless of religion. And as for all these 'purists' who say that TMK is corrupting Carnatic music, it's your savarna attitude that is being spewed. The only reason carnatic music was shackled was because the upper castes had an iron grip on it - being restricted to all these sangeetha sabhas has hurt carnatic music immensely. The reason Hindustani is so popular is because it was taken to the masses and used in a variety of ways. TMK is trying to do so the same with Carnatic music by taking it to new pastures. If you don't like it please don't bother to listen. No one here is stuffing things down your throat. Let Carnatic music be liberated.

@@aravindgopinathan6371 Where is Brahminism here? As you cannot bring in anything meaningful you are talking non-sense. Carnatic music is not restricted to a few sabhas but is very much performed in temple events and lots of open forums. Carnatic music was performed even in the halls of UN unlike what few jokers like TMK say.
FYI Carnatic music is more popular than Hindustani music. All these classical art forms (carnatic, hindustani and western classical) are very difficult to master and need a lot of patience and practice. Tell me few hundred hindustani classical performers or Western performers who came from the masses - Answer is only a handful. The same handful can be shown in carnatic music as well. Thirdly, learn to keep an open mind and appreciate the music for its beauty. And finally, as the title of the concert suggests, this is a Concert for Peace. It is apparent that you have no desire for peace in the world. Your agenda is to divide and spread hatred. The world can do without people like you. I'll give you one more thing to wrap your brain around. Ever heard about Javalis? Most of them have nothing to do with Bhakthi. Why was it never banned?
