Achieving flow state is one of the main things I look for in a video game. Even if I don't feel challenged I love the feeling of just zoning out and feeling like a god.
Mirrors Edge is good dont get me wrong but i honestly never did feel a good flow with it. As soon you are Running there is a obstacle that will slow you down. Espacially the stupid pipes. Always hated those because they did always felt like theyre only purpose is to stretch the game a bit.
I really want THUG 1 + 2 to be remade because they were one of the few Tony Hawk games with a story. It was stupid, and silly, and ridiculous, but it was damn good fun. I also miss the stuff where you'd do one small insignificant little thing and like bring a building down on your head and unlock a whole new area to skate in inside the area you already were in.
Yep, Hot Lava is great! I recently went back to it to get the clip for this video and had fun, but it still got old pretty quickly unfortunately for me :/ I think the combos, the variety of tricks and the variety of levels all come together in THPS to make the gameplay that much more engaging, despite fundamentally focusing on the same "feel" as the others
