Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! This is what I have been needing to show my students! A video is so much easier as they never listen or watch me the first time. I will be able to repeatedly show this video until EVERYBODY gets it!
This video was beautifully done. It's a great break from the straight-shot and narrated instructional videos. Very entertaining to watch unlike so many dry DIY pieces. I'm inspired to loom now.
I watch a LOT of how-to videos on here, and this one is at the top of my favorites! Clear instruction, clear pictures, catchy method. Love it! Keep up the good work!
Great tutorial. You taught me what I have been trying to find out. How to start, how to change colors and how to creat boxes without leaving holes in the weave. As a newbie, but a fast learner, this was perfect. Thank you.
What clever video! Self explanatory and easy to understand, and a good idea using cardboard, going to try this for myself for the first time ever. Thanks for posting, enjoyed very much.
this is fantastic. i appreciate the way you presented it... no hands in the way. it was so clear... and must have taken you AGES. the video is an artwork in itself. thanks for the weaving ideas. i'll use this with my primary school students.
I'm a weaver and this is a great way to learn tapestry weaving. Heck, I could practice like this without warping a full loom. I'm a little rusty with tapestries after all.
Thank you for this video! I show it to my students every year when we do this project, and they are just mesmerized! We watch the whole video the first day, then clips to review before each new skill is added. Awesome, awesome job :)
I am just getting into weaving. The patterns are somethng new for me to try. So far I have just did the over and under all the way though. I end up with a checkerboard look. I love the fringe. Thanks for the video.
Good tutorials on weaving. If you want to make a pouch, pocketbook, etc, just keep weaving onto the back and around again, over and over, and you'll have a sweet pouch for glasses, cell phones, and so forth. When I add other colors I tie the knots so there's extra yarn ends to hang down which adds color, texture and character to the product. Have fun!
I have done this with 4-H kids for years and finally saved time by using pinking shears to cut across each end for the warp rather than cutting each indentation with straight shears. I also have the kids use a plastic fork with hole in it to tie the yarn to for the weft. Then the fork can be used as a beater. It works great.
Wonderful! I wanted a little information and I got a lot, plus it was presented in such an entertaining way that I watched it, then got my friend to watch it. Thank you, great job.
Brilliant video, wonderful in so many ways. Can you please tell me if you join a new yarn or do you just cut the old away and begin the new? It looked like a cut, but I wonder if that won't unravel. I usually knit and crochet, but wanting to weave now after seeing this. Thank you. :)
We just cut the extra ends off, trust me it will not come apart. Sometimes I hide yarn in the back also (by the way you cat looks very much like out cat)
I.K. Tolbert Thanks for your reply. I've got my card at the ready. My cat, Joe, is one of four. He was born with three perfectly fine legs and one improperly formed little stumpy one. He's very strong-willed and totally adorable. My Nemo kitty. :)
thank you so much for making this! like, i was desperate. secondary school is hard at times, then they make you do weaving. jesus. any way, thanks for the help :D
@pandaamandaa That is exactly what did with several of my students some years ago. Each student (25- 30 per class) made a small weaving we then cut them off the looms and sewed each one together.
@msyarnfreak The most asked question "how do you take it off?" First let me say you don't have to take it off, but if want see how it's done go see my video "primary weaving" it shows ways to display your weaving including how to take it off.
Um... I want to make a scarf but how do I sew them together? Or connect them? I want to make it long. Also... how do I end it? Can you please tell me quick? I'm sorry to bother you.
I.K. Tolbert When you knit you often just hold two strands of yarn (the end of the old and the beginning of the new) together with no knot or anything. I was skeptical at first but none of my sweaters or hats have ever unraveled even a little.
@pandaamandaa first you can get a really long piece of cardboard . I have had a classroom of 30 students cut the weaving off the board and sew each one together. See my video "primary weaving" to see how to cut it off the loom.
Some always ask me about knots. TRUST ME if done correctly your weaving will hold together without a single knot. I tell my students NO KNOTS! Do not tie any knots!
You don't tie anything, as I tell my students NO TYING IN WEAVING. Most of students just cut off any extra. Make sure to push up weft as you weave that will hold together. your also suppose to something called a counter weave which don't remember how to do it was to hard for my young students.
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! This is what I have been needing to show my students! A video is so much easier as they never listen or watch me the first time. I will be able to repeatedly show this video until EVERYBODY gets it!

Is it still?

brilliant! simple and clear. learned more from this in two minutes thyan the last half an hour of squinting through a load of other videos! thanks :)

Awesome! Better than the tapestry weaving books I have and much easier to follow. I can't wait to try this. Thanks for a great job.
This is the best weaving tutorial I have ever seen, and just right for my awful attention span!
I've always wanted to learn to weave and your tutorial is excellent. Thank you.
A really enjoyable video. I haven't done any weaving like this for awhile. You've inspired me to take it up again.
Thank you! I'm a beginner and seeing the techniques makes it sooooo much easier to understand what my book is talking about.
Excellent video. Very easy to understand and no time wasted. Thanks.
What a great video! My niece is 6 - I'll be trying this with her. Thank you for the inspiration.
awesome presentation of the techniques! I learned a couple of useful things from your video. Thanks.

Love the way you teach. So easy to understand. Thank you very much.
That was the most helpful weaving video I have EVER seen on RUclips. It was great how you went back and slowed it down to explain it better! LOVE
Thank you for excellent animation and easy to follow style.
Great tutorial...and the music was awesome!

Thank you for making this so simple!
that is very fascinating. i just might try that myself. i've never seen any weaving done like that before. thx.

Wonderful! I wanted a little information and I got a lot, plus it was presented in such an entertaining way that I watched it, then got my friend to watch it. Thank you, great job.

this is super entertaining and very helpful! thank you!! :)
@pandaamandaa That is exactly what did with several of my students some years ago. Each student (25- 30 per class) made a small weaving we then cut them off the looms and sewed each one together.
how do you take the weaving off the cardboard and neaten the edges where you've changed yarns and all the knots and either end ?
That was amazing
Could you make a shirt out of cardboard and then weave like you are doing now and just have it all together?
très bien expliqué et efficace; merci!
@msyarnfreak
The most asked question "how do you take it off?"
First let me say you don't have to take it off, but if want see how it's done go see my video "primary weaving" it shows ways to display your weaving including how to take it off.
I want to see if weaving is for me. This is a good lesson but what does the finished product look like. Oh....maybe I have to try it to find out :)
Beautiful 🎉
if i want to make a scarf how can i increase the length? do i just weave a few pieces and attach them..?
How do you tie a knot. I was told to go to the fourth line then loop and tie?
how does that yellow section, between the blue and under the fringes, stay put, without noting?
Um... I want to make a scarf but how do I sew them together? Or connect them? I want to make it long. Also... how do I end it? Can you please tell me quick? I'm sorry to bother you.
when i want to change a color do i need to tie the new yarn with the old one? or just leave it? i didn't really understand what you did there...
thankyou i found this really helpful!
could you use those to make a blanket

Excellent!
you say to weave to the end of your yarn but will that not fall apart as you do not sew it in to the weave ?
Really it will not fall apart
I.K. Tolbert When you knit you often just hold two strands of yarn (the end of the old and the beginning of the new) together with no knot or anything. I was skeptical at first but none of my sweaters or hats have ever unraveled even a little.
I found that out in the end :) had lots of fun and have one on the go x
YOU ARE AWESOME!!!!

What do you do if you run out of yarn?
holy 10yrs n this vid still gets views. lol. i was just wondering how do you make a little bag with this technique. i wanna make my cousin one.
Sasha Patrick I have been asked that before, to make a bag you weave in both sides of loom. I might make a video someday
New to all this....how do you end it and take it off the cardboard?
Rebecca Szeto see my video Primary Weaving to see more
thanks, a very nice video!
@pandaamandaa first you can get a really long piece of cardboard . I have had a classroom of 30 students cut the weaving off the board and sew each one together. See my video "primary weaving" to see how to cut it off the loom.
