  • Ingredients
    Colocasia (Arvi) Leaves: 30 tender leaves
    Grated Coconut: 1.5 cups
    Salt: To taste (about 1 tbsp)
    Tuvar Dal: 1 cup (soaked for 3 hours)
    Rice: 1 cup (soaked for 3 hours)
    Dry Red Chillies: 50 (preferably Bedgii red chillies)
    Asafoetida (Hing): 1 tsp
    5 bhimlis or Tamarind: Gooseberry-sized piece
    Coconut Oil: For drizzling before serving
    To make Patra Dough Patra Vade, start by blending grated coconut, asafoetida, salt, and red chillies in a mixer until well combined. Add half of the soaked rice and dal, blending into a smooth paste. Take a colocasia leaf, apply the paste on the back, and layer additional leaves until you have ten stacked. Roll tightly from the bottom, sealing the edges with the paste. Cut the roll into bite-sized pieces, arrange them in a pressure cooker, and cook on high heat until one whistle, then reduce the flame and cook for an additional 30 minutes. Finally, drizzle with fresh coconut oil before serving. Enjoy!
