    Thank you, just repaired mine, someone replaced it prior, but for some reason installed a washer and gasket maker under the main bolt holding the cooler to the filter adapter. just removed the washer cleaned the gasket marker and the leak was fixed

      Here’s one on EBay. Just doublecheck the fitment for your exact car before ordering.

    I dont see a 2nd part to this video. Did the socket method work to get that gasket back on there? I am having the same issue.

    • @JoesCarSmartsNY
      @JoesCarSmartsNY  5 лет назад +1

      yetijoeyetijoe I was able to get the gasket on that way, yes.
      I would also recommend slightly warming the gasket with a hair dryer or heat gun. Just enough to soften that plastic slightly.

      @@JoesCarSmartsNY thanks. I ended up using a c-clamp and a quarter.

    He needed to flip the gasket over. not tap it with anything.
    He had the gasket upside down

    Thank you for this video. I have a question regarding removal of the coolant lines. Will all of the coolant come out once the hoses are removed? Also, did tapping the new gasket work or did you have to make the gasket hole bigger? Did you also replace the rectangular gasket that goes towards the engine block?
    Which gasket did you buy? I am looking into getting this one: www.amazon.com/Engine-Cooler-Gasket-Mazda-Cx-7/dp/B00ZXOS8FC/ref=sr_1_3?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1515737904&sr=1-3&keywords=mazda+oil+cooler
    and this one: www.amazon.com/Mazda-LF02-14-342-Engine-Filter-Adapter/dp/B00G3HZGCG/ref=pd_bxgy_263_img_2?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B00G3HZGCG&pd_rd_r=703E7N8AZHE7D1TJJCJX&pd_rd_w=25l9H&pd_rd_wg=fg3bG&psc=1&refRID=703E7N8AZHE7D1TJJCJX
    I hope you can answer all my questions. Thanks.

      Jett Plane A lot of coolant came out since this is at the bottom of the engine. Two gallons of coolant should be enough to refill.
      Gently tapping the gasket did help get it properly seated. Another suggestion would be to carefully use a hair dryer or heat gun to soften the gasket slightly and then tap it on.
      By looking at the gasket you've chosen I'd say you shouldn't have the issue that I had getting it to fit. Mine did not have the little teeth in the middle I don't think. Based on the picture of yours it looks to have the teeth that should match with the oil cooler.
      I did not replace the metal gasket because I didn't know about it ahead of time. I would replace it if I were you.

      I appreciate your response. I read from some people that after installation, their car overheated due to air bubbles in the cooling system. Did you have this problem? If so how do we remove the trapped air bubbles?
      Also, is it possible to do this repair without removing the coolant hoses?

      Jett Plane I did come across that issue. I tried a couple different things. I let the engine reach operating temp with the heater on and fan blowing and radiator cap off to allow air to escape I then made sure the coolant was full. I also removed the heater hose for a few seconds to release some air. The last thing I did was run the the engine, again with radiator cap off for several minutes and revving the engine periodically. It's tricky on this engine for some reason but I those are the tactics I used.

    What year/model is your car, is it the turbo version?
    I want to convert to a screw-on type oil filter on a 2008 CX-7 and curious if your model screw-on oil filter housing may fit the CX-7.

      This was a small 2005 Mazda minivan. Not sure about the cross compatibility of this filter housing.

    The actual problem with this thing leaking, is the fact its a ford piece of shit. The gasket is terrible. It will leak again no matter how good of a job you do.
    Replace it with the mazda oiler cooler, part number LF6W-14-700A, required bolt is LF9V-14-789 BOLT, the mazda oem gasket for the oil filter housing to block is LF02-14-342. You can get kits on ebay with all 3 parts for ~ 200$ shipped in the usa, or around 150$ shipped from japan. These are OEM authentic mazda parts, and not the fucking junk ford parts we got in the USA.
    You can use the same oil cooler on fords with the 2.3 duratec as long as you use the mazda style oil filter housing.

    How did that aftermarket gasket hold up for you? My 2011 4cly Mazda 6 has developed a oil leak and I am thinking its this problem. Thanks man.

      Steve Miller Before doing this Repair the vehicle in this video had a horrible oil leak. Once I replaced this gasket it didn’t have a leak at all. However a few weeks later the owner told me it had developed a very small leak. I did not have the opportunity to see if this gasket was the culprit again because they got rid of the vehicle at that point.

    Do you need to use a Gasket sealer when you put the black plástic for the oil cooler??

    • @JoesCarSmartsNY
      @JoesCarSmartsNY  4 года назад

      No. The sealing surface is the soft blue material.

      DoN KiKo The part with the four screws that attaches the assembly to the engine?

    • @donkiko6708
      @donkiko6708 4 года назад

      Joe S. Yes the black that attaches to the engine with 4 screws does that piece needs some kind of gasket sealer so it won’t leak any oil ??? I bought a new one but I don’t know if the old one is messed up yet un till I do the job

      DoN KiKo I did not use gasket sealer. I bought a gasket to replace the old one.

    cant get mine off at all. cant get to the bolt thats next to the coolant lines. nothing at all reaches it. no angles. also cant get to the TOP bolt holding the cooler. nothing reaches that. nothing holds on. im fucking giving up on this shit. one of the four bolts are stripped too. just spent 700$ on oil pressure gauges + plate + spin on and i cant even fucking get it installed. Absolutely dogshit. nothing in ur video helps me get it off at all. nothning on google helps. imagine. entire internet is fucking useless.
