  • This Saturday Rub clip features JB, Garry, Spud and Damo still riding Spud's quest of a wave into his nomination for the Australian Football Media awards. After contending with some horse tips to see if they can make some money today, Spud tells us all about the awards and how he's come a long way from being a dag on a sheep's ass after his tenure at the Tigers to the media juggernaut that he is today. And he wants some confirmation of this, initially through a nomination from one of his Foxtel colleagues, but he felt like it was unfair they nominate him and not anyone else in that media contingent. He also couldn't get the nomination for the AFMA award, nor an Alf Brown (best football journalist of the year - why the hell does Spud think he deserves that?) from AFL media manager Patrick Keane because he is on the voting committee for the awards. So he looked into the award description, and starts rating himself out of 10 for every requisite. Listen to the boys disagree on their ratings. He then reads out a nomination form written, allegedly, by himself (surely, he had that ghost written?) and then asks if Garry Lyon and Damian Barrett to sign their names on that form. Damo, surprisingly, happily signs it and it's Garry that says he wants to think about it. Garry also asks that everyone on Twitter listening fights to have #Vote1Spud trending on Twitter by the end of the day. Daniel Merrett backs him immediately for his work with the golden fist on After The Bounce. Jake King walks on by and supports him. Spud then blows the headwobbler trumpet for himself - well deserved, I'd imagine.
