We have to believe in God only for salvation of our soul. Today Christian are following Jesus only for some physical benefit. So it's very difficult to know what Jesus actually thought. Today's world is only concerned about their physical life. We do not need God for our physical life, We need God for our spiritual life. Jesus said whoever believes in me has Eternal Life.
