Thank you again for all your support, we really appreciate it! - Ben
Stay tuned and stay awesome!
Please tune in tomorrow, Thursday 9th August, at 6pm BST, to hear the live announcement of the winner of this guitar. Also be prepared to ask Ben and James any questions about this build series, the guitar design, his process and the end results. Looking forward to seeing you tomorrow!
Do we need to be on the stream?
I’ll be working at the time of the livestream, but I don’t want to lose out if my name gets drawn.
I hope to be holding this beautiful creation in my hands very soon
Anything is possible
No, you don't have to watch to win. We will also be contacting the winner via email.
@@CrimsonCustomGuitars just a few things I would have done differently.
With the electronic circuitry engraved into the body I personally would have gone for a more circuit board look on the stain. I think it would have looked much better as a black to Green burst. The blue was ok but a black/Green burst would have taken it over the top.
Next, for the theme you were going for, I believe a licensed Floyd Rose floating tremelo with a locking nut or even Grover locking tuners with a graphite nut would not only have looked better but also offered more versatility.
Lastly as everyone else in the comments have said, I would have used a better set of pickups. As a guitar player for 23 years, my biggest pet peeve is seeing an amazingly beautiful guitar only to discover the pickups sound muddy, flat, and dead. If on a budget I would have dropped in a decent set of DiMarzio or Duncans. If budget was not an issue, my personal preference is that I would have dropped in a set of PRS dragon ii.
The work you did was amazing and not to be taken lightly. But I personally feel that these few recommendations are what would take this guitar from being a masterpiece wall ornament, to a masterpiece work of art that someone could enjoy not only with their eyes but also with their ears.
Phil got prettier since the last demo 😄
Excellent guitar and great demo. I like the little mastodon thrown in there too. Nice touch
Thanks Jamie!
When she pulled out Cry of Achilles, she had me! The range of this guitar and (seemingly) ease of play just blows me away!
She was playong Isolation there for a few seconds as well, just not tuned for it to sound right, but I recognized it anyway.
I had the privilege of seeing this guitar in the flesh earlier this week... It looks as beautiful in real life as it sounds. Someone is going to be very, very lucky tomorrow. Huge thanks to James for the tour on Monday and getting to meet Ben and the guys.
Her skills are just fantastic! About the guitar, I still think it looks a bit bizarre but in it's own category of weirdness it's actually pretty cool. Job well done! It's good that Ben didn't reinvent the wheel but made something unique.
All the most awesome things in one room! Wicked playing Sophie! And the guitar sounds amazing. 🤘🏻🖤
Fanks Sped!
Well done and thanks to Sophie for the great demonstration!
Thanks very much Steven!
There is just something missing from the pickups. They sound sorta dead. Idk if I’m just used to high output pickups or what but these are kinda underwhelming to me.
That's what I was thinking as well.
I think that could be easily fixed with some high mid and treble boost. If she was playing through the orange, as well, they do tend to be dark toned amps.
Would sound great through a Marshall I reckon. Like Will said, Oranges are pretty dark sounding
It is likely the speakers in the Orange cabs or the way they are mic'd, possibly a combination of the two.
Watch till the end
Maybe the most visually appealing guitar I ever saw. Sounds great too!
I actually love how this guitar looks and sounds, really good craftsmanship!
I have been hooked during this whole process. Amazing job on building this guitar. It looks and sounds utterly outstanding.
The amount of work that went into this build boggles the mind. I would have been intimidated just putting the kit together itself with no mods at all. Then there's this piece of art.
Only negative for me, and it's a small one, is that I don't care for the blue. Just a preference, really. I had thought that he might go with a "circuit board green" colour scheme to accentuate the circuit lines on the guitar. Regardless, it's a beautiful instrument and obviously one of a kind. Well done!
This guitar!😍 Just sat and binged all of the building videos of this. This guitar is just beautiful!😍 Great sound, love the led and the geometric design!!!
Wow, I built 3 guitars and thought I knew what i was doing, you are an absolute master!
Ah wow that was awesome, possibly the first time I've ever watched a guitar being demo'd in full! Guitar sounds amazing, and had the perfect person to demo it. Cheers!
Thanks Scott, glad you enjoyed!
sick guitar was pleasure to watch the build and accompanied perfectly by Sophie Thanks for demoingg! :)
Some fantastic playing and riffs in there Alter Bridge and Mastodon FTW!
Thanks Alex!
Subscribed to your channel based on this vid - loving the cover tunes on there. Big Miles Kennedy, Slash and Nuno fan I see ;)
I’m absolutely in love with this guitar!!!
That is the best-looking guitar I've ever seen
Thank you! B
😳 I’m mesmerized! She is smokin on that axe plus she makes it look even more beautiful than it already was:) love those pickups ! Note separation was superb even with high gain!
Masterpiece of a guitar, really individual. Thanks for the videos Ben, whoever wins it is a lucky person.
That’s an awesome hat, love it. The guitar is pretty cool too I guess.
I just bought the tool kit with the leveling beam, fret rocker etc. This morning am I still entered in the drawing? I sure hope so this is the most badass guitar I think in have ever seen, watched every video eagerly waiting for the next. Cheers Ben and team.
They already gave it away to a Mr. Richardson from Yorkshire.
Very nice ! Both..! Awesome playing and awesome guitar. Thank you Sophie !
I really enjoyed watching this build because I really thought it was going to look terrible. I am happy to admit I was wrong. It is a beautiful guitar.
Grimnush thank you
I greatly prefer that semi gloss from the those finishing oils over lacquer. That guitar is a freaking beast! Ben you have done it again.
Very tasteful playing. Sounds great
I have loved watching this build, have learned so much and it has inspired me to be more creative when refurbishing old guitars, thanks for the entertainment too, you make it enjoyable to watch, Thanks. From Geraldton, Western Australia
Sophie, Your guitar playing is superb and you deserve that guitar.
Thanks Tom! I haven't actually entered to win this guitar, but I'm sure whoever wins it will treat it with the love and respect it deserves!
Sophie Burrell - I was impressed with your playing in this video so I shared it on Facebook and gave them the details on your band. I hope you don't mind.
badass playing!!! keep at it!
This is an awesome piece of art. What a beautifull and great sounding guitar. Indeed a lot of work!
Fantastic to hear this awesome build in the hands of a great player. It sounded great and you made it look very easy Sophie. I'm assuming it has a great feel?
Thanks Steve! It does have a very nice feel!
Hey hey! That was Cry of Achillies by Alter Bridge! Awesome job!😎
And Isolation.
I didn’t recognize that one. Of course I haven’t heard that song in a while. She still killed it though!
Isn't that supposed to be "Achilles"? I don't know, just saying I think it might be... 👍😉
Sophie you made this Guitar sing like a mellow lark sing in a grass field. Awesome work please keep the new design Guitars coming what a awesome build better then PISSCO painting
Man that is one awesome guitar!!!! Thanks for sharing this!!
Sounds as good as it looks! Great to hear Cry of Achilles too!
Haha love that you recognised the riff!
You sir are just freaking awesome sir !!! I know a year late. But I still love what you do
An amazing and awesome guitar. Awesome guitarist, too. 😊
Thank you Karen!
It truly sounds AWESOME! Quite versatile.
WOW sounds awesome. great playing. Love that she played part of a Alter Bridge song in there! Great job amazing build. MORE MORE MORE
Such a guitar!!! And such a player, really good guitar player. Sounds awesome. What a lucky person the one who wins it
Thank you!
Sophie Burrell No, thanks to you, for your great performance: different styles, sounds, technique... I really enjoyed it.
Would love to know how many actual hours went into this. So amazing
awesome looking and sounding guitar Ben, Great playing by Sophie did it justice, thank you to her, Cheers
Thank you Casper!
Your very welcome Sophie, luv your playing, thanks again, :)
Sounds great! Great playing
Thanks Ryan!
It sounds as awesome as it looks! Had an awesome player demo it too! She's definitely got skills!👍😎🎸🎶
Thank you! :)
Sophie Burrell you're welcome!☺
Wow Ben, that sounds even better than it looks. Awesome 👏
Ben... loved watching you build that guitar. Also loved seeing Sophie give it a workout.
2 things I would have personally wanted different though was to make the finish blacker around the "sound holes", lightening up to the electric blue at the bottom, as if whatever was coming out of the holes blackened the finish. Also, I would've made the back panels some shade of metallic red, with "DANGER" stenciled on them. All just in keeping with the cyberpunk theme.
... so okay, so I'm a little stranger/weirder than you are. Still, keep up the great work.
Edit: Almost forgot to ask... who was the girl playing it at the end of episode 19? C'mon man, give credit where it's due.
So cool!
THE most beautyful les paul I ever seen
Les Paul inspired, perhaps. This is a Crimson Guitars kit that was highly modified. :)
Great demo of a guitar that has been fascinating to watch coming to life. I was a bit worried that those studs would scratch my prize though :-)
Hahaha you're pretty set on it being your prize then?! I was careful!
Thank you. Honestly, I couldn't win an argument with myself - but I do have a strap that would go with it a treat!
i really love how this guitAR turned out. I honestlycringed when ben tookthe hexagons past the line on the edge of the top but once color was applied the sexy lines of the body and carved top werent so broken and the visual effect works. i must say i miss phil walker. I hope you guys are still friends. He was an asset for crimson guitars for sure. because he could play anystyle on any guitar and make it sound amazing.
patrick jaroch thank you 😀. We are still working with Phil and have many demo videos in the bag just waiting to be edited. Plus Phil and Toby are currently touring with the Story of Guitar Heroes.
Top playing. Fantastic guitar too 👍🏻👍🏻
I have fallen in love.
Hexagons are cool also.
Love the playing, love the guitar too. How do I find me a Sophie who can teach me to play like this? Inspiring.
Was it Sophie who was down at the end of July doing some filming for a channel? If so, what channel?
Fantastic.... all of it.
I really like you taste of Music, Sophie!
Alter Bridge & Slash FTW
Thank you very much! :)
Awesome playing, the guitar sounds great, I didn't expect to hear 'halo' great riff that!
Glad you recognised it!
Sophie Burrell slash is one of my guitar heroes, really nice playing, you rock!!🤘
Looks amazing!
Would have been nice to hear Sophie giving her opinion on the guitar, how it feels to play etc. Great demo though, sounds great,
O she's a beaut! And great fangin' out demo.
This is brilliant! Would love to see you demonstrating some other guitars
Am I supposed to get some kind of confirmation that I’ve entered the competition when I buy something from your website?
Great playing. Nice sounds.
And the Isolation riff 😍😍😍
You did it. It is awesome. Somewhere down the road make one with a ligth that works like a metronome? Could work ;-)
Is it just my ears or do the pickups have a P-90 feel to them? Or could that be the Orange amp?
OOOOOOOOOOO sophie!!!!!!
Nicely done
Nice guitar
Nice Bird
That constant humm. Is that from the LED? Or is it because of the split single coil?
The LEDs are running off a battery so that wouldn't hum
Sorry about that. Not actually the guitar, the valves on our AD30 are on there way out and have become noisy. I didn't get a chance to change them before hand. My fault, James
Philip Hawthorne oh cool, is that because it is on a completely different circuit? But isn't it activated by the jack lead? I guess that is also an isolated switch from the main circuit?
James Blackburn thanks for the reply. Awesome instrument.
It's because batteries are DC so they aren't fluctuating. AC from the wall socket and lights alternates at 50hz which is an audible frequency so when it interferes with unbalanced low power devices like a guitar you can hear it.
If I'm not mistaken there is some Opeth in there? :P
You should try and get the clean channel a little 'hotter', such an awesome amp and guitar but it sounds like Argos. Crank it!
I don't trust people who wear hats indoors.
So you shouldn't!
Haha, short hair musicians and thin cooks should be the only ones.
Did she ask to borrow money from you or something?
Sophie Burrell Hell yeah, glad you took it like a champ! Plus, life's too boring when everybody's trustworthy.
I don't trust dogs who can type
Wow fast and loud! \m/ \m/ Nice job again, Ben and Sam! (and Sophie)
Thanks Thom!
inspiring build. you should have put fishmen fluence pickups just for the geometric shape on the covers :P
Man, that alterbridge intro😍♥️
Anyone know what Sophie was playing at ~2:17? Definitely my favorite bit...
I was just messing around in A minor!
Dang, your noodling sounds much better than mine!! Honestly sounded like it was part of something :D
That is one sweet sounding guitar.....
That alter bridge intro though!!!
Haha of course!
haha mastodon in unexpected places
yeah, I heard that
You know it ;P
2 best looking and sounding things this channel has ever seen. Sorry Ben Your Fired from in front of the camera work!
Great playing. Whered phil and toby go though
Josh Mitchell they are currently on tour with the Tory of Guitar Heroes, but they will be back soon.
Bonny Bird, indeed
She has a very led Zeppelin influenced sound. I love it.
Thanks Twan! Zeppelin were one of my first influences as a kid
Girl can wail on an that axe.
Looks fantastic all put together! And the Clean sounds are awesome! but all the gain tones really seemed thin and uninspired. Still though thoroughly enjoyed watching the series! Would be a wicked jazz/light blues guitar I think
@ 2:30 some Alter Bridge?!
Ok, how much it costs if you're going to sell this guitar?
crimsonguitars.com/store/cyberpunk-guitar/
3:33 turn the gain down just a tad an you have a sick Tool tone! Nice playing!
Thanks Alyus!
I think copper accents instead of steel would have been even cooler
Hell yeah Alter Bridge!!!!
Zjaaa! Now you doing it right Benjamima
dose she come with the guitar
I don't unfortunately hahahaha
Absolutely stunningly beautiful, and the guitar ain't bad either!
Yeah the girl’s cool and all but that’s some sick lookin guitar. I’d play the hell outta that
It's crazy that when all is said and done, there's still some kind of mojo in a real Les Paul that can't be replicated.
Killer! Give me that!
that's one absolutely stupidly beatiful looking guitar... seriously... like wow..
The pickups somehow sound "empty". Lol. Not sure how to describe it, but they sound "empty".
Awesome build, process, documentary and stage play. But, why the cyany blue? Crimson would have been awesome. The thang would have been king of the Crimson Court, got a Fripp to flip and stifled all the jestars into crimson faces. OK, that's pathetic. Awesome.
Dayum! :D
Why are your DIY kits so expensive? Up to £585 for an LP full kit, £249 for just the body. Sapele is known for tear-outs according to one site and is generally a substitue for mahogany. Here on another site I'm looking at a Mahogany LP with humbuckers for £115 and that compared to Gears4Music is expensive. I searched a few sites, none breaking the £200 mark, 1 at £199 was a double guitar. To put things into perspective I bought an ESP F250 FL with EMG-HZ pick-ups for £250 SH.
Craig B you don’t buy a kit guitar to get a cheap instrument, you get it so you can build your own guitar. Some people just want to build any guitar, some people want to build a premium instrument.
I would though seriously doubt the quality of a £115 kit, you don’t know where or how it has been built, what cheap bits of AliExpress hardware come included, you don’t know how many pieces of scrap wood have been jointed together to make the body, if the wood has been properly seasoned and if the nut is even solid (yes some kits come with hollow injection moulded nuts). At least with Ben he puts out enough videos about the things to know you are getting a quality kit with quality parts and materials.
If what you want is the best playing instrument for the money then second hand is the way to go if you can find a quality instrument then do the proper setup etc.
Thanks, I was worried my post would sound like I just having a pop but I genuinely wanted to know and that's the kind of answer I was hoping for. Only been playing for 8 months and clearly there's still things I don't know. Problem is no matter how hard I search I'm not finding any kits that come close to that price. Precisionguitarkits.com was averaging £350. Most "high quality" kits were around the $200 on other sites, about £157. And non are made from Sapele, imagine spending £585 just to ruin the wood. As for the finished build itself, that was on their site for £3,500. While typing I was searching and am fairly convinced this is all way over priced.
