Glad you liked it Caroline. This method relies on the path you create. If you make a path that runs all over your quilt block you may need to use smaller motifs and less duplicates. Maybe only put the motifs on one side of the line. It would be a case of experimentation. The other way to do it would be to place your motifs first and then add your path to join them. You would not use this tool for that. I show how that is done in the Quilt Motifs from Fabric lesson here carolundy.podia.com/quilt-motifs-from-fabric-design-zoom-meeting
Hi Patty, I have not had an answer from Bernina about the knife tool, but as I expected, the knife tool icon has been removed from Art Canvas in the latest update. The knife tool I use in this exercise is the one in Embroidery Canvas, and this has not been affected. It is still there. So I guess that is the answer. We will still have a knife tool in Embroidery Canvas for cutting embroideries, but we have lost the knife tool in Art Canvas which was used to cut vector graphics. There are other ways to split your graphics. If you have an example of how you wanted to use the knife tool and would like some help with that, please post here or join my free community on my website and post in the Questions about digitizing topic there. carolundy.podia.com/ Cheers Carol
Unfortunately this feature is only in V9, but my Quilt Motifs from Fabric design lesson was done in V8 and shows how to do a similar thing in that version. There is link to that product in the video description.
I did not try the branching tool as I don't think it would work. Even if it did, it would still result in some back tracking. The knife tool is the only way to achieve a single pass of stitching. Blackwork Run is the quickest way to eliminate the jump stitches if you don't mind two passes of stitching.
Fantastic Thank you, love the way you go step by step!
I am glad you liked it.
very enjoyable Carol
Wow...u r a genius.....and so many great explanations!!!! Yes very enjoyable. Will prob watch couple of times and will make new program understandable
Wow, thanks!
Thank you Carol, Most enjoyable tutorial. I do love quilt mug rug. How would you do an all over quilt Design for a quilt block?

I will def purchase newversion thank you
Thank you Carol. That would be great for creating quilting patterns. The question is "Is this feature available in version 8?"

@@CarolUndy Great. I have it . I should watch it again.
Great video. I was wondering the same about how to accomplish in V8.
You would have to create your line and place your motifs manually.
Could you use the branching tool?

I also thought that branching was for this kind of stuff 😁
