Proper Repair of Crack or Tear on Plastic Bumper Products

Standard Operating Procedure for a two sided bumper cover repair. A two sided repair includes damage that goes through the substrate, as in a deep scratch, crack, or tear. This method is done with a reinforced scrim backing repair and a dished-out cosmetic repair on the front. A 3M™ File Belt Sander works really well to create the dish-out or valley area of the plastic repair, keeping the repair contained and keeping you working faster.

I just used a JB Weld plastic repair 5 minute epoxy with some fiberglass mat to repair a tear in my polyurethane bumper.
3M, you make the best stuff, but sometimes I can't afford the best :)

That's the kind of repair I'm considering, as $600 quoted for replacement of the bumper just for cosmetics seemed too much when it's just a workhorse vehicle. I wasn't sure if I should get something flexible to act as the adhesive, as it might flex at some point and crack otherwise.

Who's the genius that makes a video like this without including the materials used? I have a cracked up Audi S4 bumper that I'm trying to repair... Would love to use 3m stuff... But this video literally left me with more questions than answers...

3m website says 04240 for the backside of the bumper, 05907 for adhesion promoter and 05887 for the front side filler material. Not sure why the video doesn't say any of this

what number is the black filler material used in conjunction with the -reinforcement material; bye the way what is the proper name of the reinforcement material and what is the 3m number- for purchase purposes; thank you,PATRICK

Do you apply wet coat on top of wet coat, or let it set between coats?

So my Brother has some plastic/rubber inner fender liners that has cracks and some deterioration the part that attaches to fender wheel edge has cracks , Would this method work By taking down the edge on inside and leveling as well as was done on the outerskin of the bumper
