      How Paul met Jesus
It took place AD 59, his conversion was AD 35/6.
And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures.
      1Co 15:5
And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve. 1Co 15:6
After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep.
      1Co 15:7
After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles.
      1Co 15:8
And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time.
      1 Co 15:9
For I am the least of the apostles, that am not meet to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God.
So Paul HEARD, MET and SAW Jesus.
But Barnabas took him, and brought him to the apostles, and declared unto them how he had seen the Lord in the way, and that he had spoken to him, and how he had preached boldly at Damascus in the name of Jesus.
      Acts 9:27
      SEEN and HEARD.
Am I not an apostle? am I not free? have I not seen Jesus Christ our Lord? are not ye my work in the Lord?
      1 Co 9:1
      SEEN.
Moreover, Paul calls the wife of Simon of Cyrene, his mother-in-Christ. She lived with him in Ephesus and Rome. Her sons are Rufus and Alexander. Rufus was a co-worker. Alexander went his own way. Their father, her husband, carried Christ's cross.
So... Paul knew them, saw Jesus, met Jesus, was visited by Jesus, and knew of his death and resurrection from a firsthand, eyewitness there on the day. Caiaphas was Simon's uncle, and therefore a Saducee. Pretty easy to compare notes. The earliest copies of Luke, Paul's physician, plus Acts, is AD 68, Qumran Cave 7, level 1. Along with Romans, 1 Timothy, James (Jesus's half-brother,), 1 Peter.
And they all saw Jesus, too. In James's case, from birth.
      The archaeology is sound
And there's always someone who says Paul never existed. 🙄
That argument no longer holds water.
Early Christian wall paintings found in the Cave of St. Paul, in the vicinity of Ephesus, Turkey, are being restored. They are on the northern slope of Bülbül Dag (Nightingale Mountain). Discovered in 1906. It consists of a corridor leading to a 15 by 2m room, 2.5m high, that was cut into the rock. The room's floor, originally level, was subsequently covered with material from later periods, raising it 20 cm. In the corridor there are two niches, 0.5m above the ground and blackened with soot. There are layers of plaster on the niche to the right of the entrance, going down to the floor, as there are on the corridor walls. The last layer has early twentieth-century graffiti. Karl Herold, head of the restoration department for the Austrian Archaeological Institute excavations in Ephesus, was working on the cave walls when he noticed that there were paintings underneath the plaster. Removing it, Herold uncovered pictures of Paul.
Paul visited Rome four times from AD 44 to 62 to spread the message of Christianity and, while traveling through Anatolia, stopped twice at Ephesus. He caused violent protests when he preached sermons in monotheistic Jewish synagogues in order to spread the word of Christianity in polytheistic Ephesus. St. Paul was killed on his fourth visit to Rome in the Reign of Nero (AD 64 to 67). The depiction of St. Paul is the first one that has been discovered in Ephesus and still under archaeological investigation as of 2022.
Evidence for the reality of Paul comes from the dozens of writers who quoted him within a generation of his death. Every single Christian source agrees that he was a real person. Clement (AD 95) mentioned Paul. Peter (AD 60) mentioned Paul. Ignatius, Polycarp, and many other late first century and early second century writers mentioned Paul. There is not a single example of an opponent of Christianity in the first two or three centuries who doubted his reality. It would have been like doubting that Seneca or Ovid or Cicero lived. Even Bart Ehrman, one of the biggest critics of the reliability of the Bible affirms it. Paul was real, he is pre Clement (AD 95), pre-Polycarp (John's living disciple knew him).
So there is historical references Biblically, external witness outside Scripture, and an archaeological witness placing him AT Ephesus (outside the Bible) and cast images and a part if a surviving likeness AT Ephesus, contemporary with the living witnesses of the day.
And THAT Paul absolutely is a first-century, first-hand, contemporary, witness of the life, miracles, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. And His Gospel to Jew and Gentiles dovetails with the said-same preached by Peter to the Jews. Paul IS A FIRST-CENTURY PENNER OF THE LETTERS. Even the accusation he was never in Ephesus is dealt with archaeologically.
Evidence Jesus and Paul met, plus evidence he lived in Ephesus. That Paul met James, Jesus's brother AFTER Jesus Rose from death, was mothered by the woman whose husband bore his cross, and whose sons went onto missions work. There are a lot of historical references to Christ's resurrection Rome wasn't happy with. But it is in writing decrees were handed out how to handle the aftermath. In so doing, those letters and decrees confirmed Jesus did die, by crucifixion, and discouraged acknowledging the fact of resurrection. Such decrees would not be necessary for a dead man. But would be necessary if a dead man came back - the very thing the decrees were trying to limit.

"A constant pursuit of something that would put my pain on hold." I get that concept. The personal details are different, but, yes, I get that concept.

In order to have everlasting life you absolutely must trust in the person and finished work of Christ alone for salvation 💖 this means that saving repentance is turning from unbelief to belief. You either believe that Jesus paid your sin debt in full or you don't.

He loves you, He died for you. To me and 5:8 “But God demonstrated His love for us in this: while we were still yet sinners, Christ died for us.” I love you, Jesus. He is Lord, and I repent to Him, like you.
