Thank you for posting this informative pig video! I remember the last time we grew pigs with my aunt and uncle we kids named them Lester Pearson and John Diefenbaker. If you were Canadian of a certain age you would know that our families were not in agreement as to which of the namesakes should be elected that year!. Our parents assured us that we were not eating our pig, that we were eating our cousins pet not ours that made it easier to enjoy dinner for some reason 😂 I am LOL but am too old to ROFLOL

Hi, I do direct to customers. If you have volume, I would work with local chefs.

Here in the Netherlands we have around 520 large farm animals per square kilometer. Pigs and cows and goats. And also around 520 pieces of poultry per square km. and also around 520 humans per square km. And that is at any given moment in time, all year around. It is an unhealthy situation for the animals and humans in multiple ways. Air pollution, nitrogen pollution, fine dust pollution, co2 and methane emissions. Scientists warn for the abuse of large quantities of antibiotics that the animals get. There is a huge decline in numbers of plants, insects and bird species, about 30% up to 80% of the species disappeared since people started keeping track of those species, and those species that are remaining are often struggling because the nitrogen makes the water and the soil too acidic for many species. And each year around 10.000 people die as a direct consequence from the poor air quality.
In the Netherlands the farmers are responsible for 60% of the nitrogen pollution. They own about 60% of the land. And because of the European nitrogen emission restrictions the construction companies are not allowed to build, with the result that we have a shortage of a million affordable houses, and that people have to wait for 12 years on average in order to be able to get an affordable house.
About 98% of the food production is produced for the export, and yet the farmers are only good for less than 2% of our national GDP.
I applaud the small scale farmers. Animals are much healthier, they need much less antibiotics or none at all, it is less of an impact on the local ecology, and as a small scale farmer you can spread out the risks with other sources of income, and the local suppliers and the local community benefit from it as well. 👍

From a local breeder. I bought over 20 to get a discount. Most people around me sell for $75 to $100

How do you sell the pigs?
Many people are muslims or vegans, so the market is shrinking

    • @StefanoCreatini

There is an endless supply for high quality pork, In USA, even if 50% of people eat pork, the market is 150 Million customers.

I can buy fat hogs live weight 1.00 dolla pound delivered to packing house 75 cents to process it. So 300 dollars for the hog 150 for processing 450 total you are charging more than double what market price.
