  • Landmannalaugar is located in the highlands of Iceland and is home to colorful painted mountains, lava fields, and steaming fumaroles. It's the perfect destination for hiking, camping, and soaking in a hot spring. However, you need a 4wd vehicle in order to access this location - enter the Happy Campers 4x4 vans.
Join us as we tackle the pothole-filled drive into the highlands (stopping at Jeannie's Gems of course!), hike on thousand-year-old lava with a toddler, soak in a natural hot spring, cook, eat, and sleep...all from the comfort of our camper van!

Got to come visit Island few yrs ago for my birthday. We rented a car and drove 100's of miles! Highlight was Jokulsarlon. The peacefulness and natural glowing blue! Magical. Was a 5hr drive from our hotel. Right away we decided we will return and rent from Happy Camper. Excited to see you paired with them. Amazing journey.

I had been here 10days ago. It was fun adventure with great view. Also the natural hot spring was great. We had a bit snow when we came. Btw, actually i went there with regural toyota car with local as driver. The most adrenalin part when we must cross the river with regural car. Of course my friend as driver has several times experiences been there with regural car. Anyway we made it. Was the best highlight trip

Unfortunately, the Highlands area closes around mid September (depending on weather conditions).

We didn't get a chance to do this when we were there. So beautiful 😍. Can't wait until we can come back. Are there any accommodations in highlands or must have a camper or camp? We're a family of 4 and sometimes 5.

I'm a bit confused. Was the hot spring in Landmannalaugar warm at every spot? Two years ago, it was really cold and only warm directly in front of where the water flowed in

@@IcelandwithaView Me as well, would like to know when you did this hike? I plan to go Iceland in September, but I'm unsure if that's a good month for hiking.
