Thanks for the information - my spouse takes Eliquis because she is Afib. I take aspirin because I had a stroke from which I recovered completely. Eliquis is really expensive even though it's been on the market long enough to face a generic competitor. The primary manufacturer bought the generic competitor out so now we are faced with entering the coverage gap indefinitely on. Medicare Part D. I understand your point but am still paying thousands per year because the manufacturer is preventing generic competition.

    • @Akira-nw4jl
      @Akira-nw4jl 2 года назад

It's not a poison at all. In fact it is used to kill rats by anti coagulating them and causing hemorrhaging because they will overdose with it. Your dog or cat could mistakenly eat it and not die. In the USA poisons are illegal to sell and use to kill animals because people might use them to kill other people instead.

I learn SO much from these videos. Now I know the difference between anticoagulants (Warfarin) and anti-platelet (Aspirin). I'm a BIG believer in natural medicine and regular vitamin / mineral supplementation but I am willing to learn from someone who is more knowledgeable than I. Dr. Gupta presents both sides of the discussion and reaches a most logical conclusion BASED ON REAL SCIENCE. Furthermore, Dr. Gupta reveals the need for there to be funding for the health benefits of natural substances (i.e. a tax on pharmaceuticals and dietary supplements, which goes 100% to labs and research companies doing these studies).

He gives a very logical explanation of why natural anticoagulants are not investigated and falls back on the old defence that large scale double blind studies are necessary, etc, etc, blah, blah. It is certainly true that the cost of such studies prevents competitors to existing drugs from entering the market. So bad treatments can force out the good. There imply needs to be a better way

If many drugs are synthetic and are part of natural supplements it makes no sense the use of natural supplement would be detrimental. Pharmacy companies have no deserve to supplement their manufactured drugs with something like garlic. All you do here is make the case for staying on drugs. JMT

My issue is that DOAC medication has led to severe PR bleeds requiring hospital admission on three occasions across 18 months. Two requiring blood transfusion and several days in hospital. This is because I have pan diverticulitis. I was recommended Revroxaban and then Apixaban. On the occasions of hospital admission I recorded very low blood pressure in the ambulance owing to the bleed which instigated an AFib event recorded on the ECG monitor. I’d been OK prior to the bleed. I don’t have high blood pressure or any other comorbidity Ie. Diabetes or weight problems. My incidence of paroxysmal AFib has reduced to virtually zero through lifestyle changes, diet etc. I’m now 70. I wonder if the statistical analysis of the vulnerable populations takes in smokers, the overweight and obese and diabetic samples with express co- morbidity. If the bleed triggers an AFib event then I’m playing one symptom against another… I’d value your prognosis.

Dark urine shows it's affecting your liver! Be Sure to tell your doctor about it right away! I also take xarelto, but haven't experienced any negative side effects that I am aware of. I take it because of having AFib.
If you have DVT it's important that you do something to safe-guard yourself from stroke. Perhaps your doctor can switch you to a different blood-thinner that doesn't react so negatively with your body chemistry?

    Three questions, Dr Sanjay:
    1) Why not see if a supplement/vitamin company will foot the bill for some research into natural blood thinners?
    2) What are the differences in impact on the liver and kidneys of a "chemical" blood thinner vs a "natural" blood thinner?
    3) Would a good compromise be to use both types - natural and chemical - so that the amount of chemical blood thinner prescribed can be reduced?
It is because of this video that I first listened to right after it came out that I stopped "fighting" with my cardiologist about taking blood thinner Warfarin/Coumadin which my friends nickname "Rat Poison".

My friend said my face looked like it melted on that side, I couldn’t talk without slurring, I couldn’t couldn’t close my right eye , I had no insurance or money to go to the hospital, I took daily,a half of tab of aspirin, (for thinning my blood) , niacin (for dilating my blood vessels) and overly practiced pronouncing my vowels , A-E-I-O-U , in about a about a couple of months + , I was able to clear it up, The ringing in my ear lasted over a year , I still do niacin and swim, pretty much daily , I’m 71 and still work, can’t afford the hospitals and no insurance

I guess this is too old a video to ask a question on? But I'll try.
Dr Gupta, when you say using blood thinners reduces strokes by 60%
Is that 60% of everyone in the study. Or is it 60% reduction the total % risk?
Maybe I am not explaining myself too well? I think pharma companies will usually quote 60% because that sounds huge compared to a 60% reduction in an already small %. Does that make sense?
I wish both these statistics had to be quoted on all papers.
Sadly you are effectively saying that no natural remidies can ever be recommended because pharmaceuticals will never do the studies needed.
But thank you for your excelllent videos.

I have been on warfarin for 3 years. I can not handle the constant INR's anymore. It's every second week or every month. In SA it takes 4 - 6 hour just to do the INR, get the prescription and the medication. I refuse to do it any longer. It's taken over my life. During 2023 my INR count was within the desired range only twice (between 2 -3). It's 1.3, 1.4, 1.6, back to 1.4 and on and on it goes. So in my opinion there is no benefit or hope of preventing a stroke if you are not even close to the desired range. While waiting at the clinic for so many hours I have picked up so many viruses and had to spend so much extra money on medication and time to recover it's just driven me to the point where I say "no more". I don't have the co morbidities. I will take my chances. If I die, then I die. If I will have a stroke I hope it's severe enough to kill me. The inconvenience of being on warfarin is unbearable and to switch to the other medications are unaffordable.

Although I love your videos and your point of view, thiw one made me very skeptical because the fact that only pharmaceuticals have the funds to support studies on anticoagulation must be used as a justification for using only their products for this reason. There should be courageous doctors who would support financially such studies as regards natural anticoagulants which have no side effects when the commonly suggested by doctors have plenty that make the quality of life worse for those using them. Those who have no side effects are because they have ruined their bodies with bad lifestyle, bad diet etc in such a degree that they are not in touch with their bodies any longer and they don't feel how the medication is making them ill and working inside them harming their organs etc. You should say something also about the studies that refer to thousand dying from anticoagulation side effects.!

Although a believer in natures healing power I would not trust natural foods to ensure me against stroke regarding AFib. I take a blood thinner daily, mine is xarelto. I wish I didn't have AFib and have to worry about the high risk of stroke. But it is what it is. So far I haven't had any negative side effects that I am aware of. Even had a tooth pulled without having to stop taking it. AFib is a unique condition which has high stroke risk when paired with co-morbidities. I have high blood pressure and am 66 years old. Also a cancer survivor, so I would not risk stopping taking xarelto in favor of natural blood-thinners.
