  • Took a solo trip down from New Orleans to Grand Isle, Louisiana's only inhabited barrier island, to experience beach camping in Grand Isle State Park, biking LA Highway 1, drone cinematography over the Gulf of Mexico, and to practice filmmaking a short adventure.

    My sister-in-law, her husband and family lived on Grand Isle for many years. My husband, his other sister and I would spend weeks, even months with them. The Mardi Gras‘s were lots of fun. Although they had to leave at every hurricane this time they aren’t moving back. They own Island Daiquiri and Castaways (it was demolished by the hurricane).

      Those sound like wonderful memories. I'm sorry to hear their businesses were destroyed by the recent hurricane. I hope they're doing well wherever they've decided to start anew! Thanks for sharing!

    Glad you got to see it before Ida destroyed it and made it unaffordable for middle class people

    • @JamesPuente
      @JamesPuente  3 года назад

      80s F during the day, 70s at night back at the end of April. Probably about 60-70% humidity. Constant ocean breeze the whole time.

      As of the last update in January 2022 from Grand Isle State Park’s Facebook page, the state park is still closed until further notice to the effects of Hurricane Ida.
