“I didn't have my license yet and we didn't have money to buy a car. I did my homework on the bus. I carried my heavy book bag and a duffel bag full of my work clothes, and I would work there from like 3 to 10pm every day. And it was hard.
My grades were dropping because I didn't have time to study. It just became this moment where life felt super unfair. I couldn't choose. I had to be a student. I couldn’t just drop out because I was still underage. But I had to do all these things. I started getting grades that made me feel different about myself.”
