Guest speakers Professor Richard Eckard (Uni Melbourne) and Claire Mahony (AACO) present in the first in this Winter Webinar Series.
Professor Eckard is the director of the Primary Industries Climate Challenges Centre at the University of Melbourne. He developed the first greenhouse gas accounting tools for agriculture, which have become part of a nationally recognised framework.
Professor Eckard provides insights from his extensive research on carbon farming, accounting for carbon-neutral agriculture, meeting supply chain GHG targets, and creating a balanced ESG portfolio.
Claire Mahony is currently leading activities at AACO to understand methane mitigation technologies and application, particularly in extensive grazing operations with a focus on creating value for the beef value chain.
Claire’s presentation focuses on insetting versus offsetting, and the options (and associated costs) for livestock graziers to reduce GHG emissions.
