Im ancient enough to remember it getting built . Full of delays due to construction issues.5 years late opening fully (sound familiar ?) Maybe not as strong as they thought it was. State of the art at the time . Dental hospital too . Pure brutalist concrete . The royal infirmary which it replaced stayed for nearly a century , this monolith lasted for only 53 years .. boiler house was fascinating though 😉
it seemed well under control today when i had a look but i do think something went wrong. I am no expert but if you look on the video the wall gave way two floors down where it was windows (1:36). i personally thing they gave way.
Something definitely went wrong there, maybe stress cracks that just gave way to the downward force of all that weight above. Nobody hurt, that's the main thing.
Been watching this for the last 5 weeks, some dodgy pushing of concrete pillars over during that time, surely better doing top to bottom, one floor at a time. Dont fancy their chances when working right behind Clatterbridge etc
Let’s hope that no individuals were hurt. I would think that site safety will be really tightened up after this. Hopefully, the works will progress smoothly, from here on in.

The NHS Trust said it was a controlled demolition, tell that to any people walking by with all that dust
I don't think the big machine would had been close if it was a controlled demolition at the time. Definitely something went wrong.

Yeah i watched it very closely it looked like wall closed in and the whole lot went with it.@veryhighguy
@@stephensmith4480I think so too be lots of stress and weight on it and just gave way.
Brilliant. Thanks for sharing. At 3.01 into the video am I going crazy or does a long arm appear to reach across ?
that was someone closing the window it was being recorded through
yes it was a reflection
I thought I was going mad and a huge arm came down haha. Need to stay off the meds lol. Thanks!
Another great video. Does anyone know what will happen with the site.
it will become a training and teaching complex for future doctors
@@veryhighguy thank-you
What comes shooting out at the three minute mark?
it was a reflection from the window.

There will be some Health & Safety Investigation there. Lucky there weren't any demolition guys around when that fell
@@veryhighguy all asbestos would have been removed

I im a high reach operator that was reckless, leaving the gabble 4 story's high not tied in and cutting a column bellow, I seen it before it happened
Dont think that water spray helped much lol
