The sad part is, I would take it one step further then people being confused if this is a fact vs opinion argument. Many of these people can't seem to tell the difference between a fact or a opinion to begin with. They will say something like, the fact is, this person did x, y and z, and they are a traitor. You know it, I know it and the people know it. I will sit there thinking, those are not facts, those are you opinions. Everything said here is valid and has the prospect of helping those who are misinformed make reasonable decisions. Whether or not they'll listen is another story, but we should push more interviews like this. The only way to fight misinformation is with the correct information. It's just not going to be an easy fight.
Agree mostly but there some individuals that are too far gone and it is not necessarily science denial is on the part of the friend/relative that decides to walk away. I have a nephew for which the the denial of reality is the core of his existence. I have tried various techniques including those discussed here over the years with not even an inkling of success. Now with Trumpism and Covid it is beyond the pale. It is too emotionally exhausting (and I am Canadian). It is not realistic to put the burden on regular people that do not have a background in philosophical reasoning (or similar) to convince hard core science deniers. Sure, for people on the fence but some people are just too far gone. One can not sacrifice their own mental health for ideological nut jobs. I now refuse to talk with my nephew except for the rudimentary social pleasantries otherwise it is firehouse of bullshit. I just can’t take it.

That said, if they exposed doctors such as you just stated, they should be reprimanded, as a doctor indeed needs to report. There has been many doctors over the past 18 months that have come out and said they were pressured to label patients Covid positive even with no test, Covid deaths with no related illness, and improper records keeping as veritas has come out with. Because 1 in 60 unvaccinated people die from the delta variant. Mask mandates end when we reach herd immunity, when 80% of the population is vaccinated. Natural antibodies only last 3 months. Vaccine antibodies last 8 months because of variants. Fully vaccinated means both vaccines and a booster at 8 months at this point.. Science is a learning process.

I was just arguing with an anti-vaxxer over facebook messenger. I didn't really expect to -- I usually avoid these kinds of people, but it happened nonetheless. My strategy was: 1. be respectful, 2. explain my own reasoning succinctly, and 3. when I debunked or questioned something, I focused on one thing at a time. i.e., I tried not to overload them. At the end of the conversation, I kind of felt like I got them to question a few things, but didn't get them to change their mind. Maybe if 1 or 3 or 100 more people did the same thing, then they would change their mind. But I did all I could.
Be prepared to get inundated with a bunch of BS anti-vaccine information from this person. That’s how they operate. A friend of mine does that to me when I point out legitimate information about the vaccine. I swear he stays up all night digging for anything he can shove my way in some desperate effort to prove that the vaccine is unsafe and some kind of conspiracy. Anti-vaxxers are crazy making.
